I'm looking to purchase a full wetsuit this spring for use in olympic
distance and up tri's. From surfing the net (pun intended!), it looks
like QR and pro-motion both make nice quality suits for reasonable
prices - around $250 for the full suits. Since I'm fairly standard
build, it looks like both should fit pretty well. No real convienient
outlets to try them on, so I have to go by the sizing charts.
Anybody know how these differ in fit (i.e looser in the neck, tigher
in the shoulders, etc).
Anybody have experience with either or both as far as quality,
durability, etc?
Thanks a bunch.

I swim a pro-motion full-john (e.g, sleeveless). The staff was very
helpful; knew what a triathlete needed, and bent over backwards to try to
make sure that I was fitted with the right size suit. The prices were great
and the support was superb - I can really recommend them! I've done the
Odyssey Off Road MTB Tri and the Columbia Tri so far this year, one with
water at about 59 and the other at 62 to 65 and a sleeveless was fine for
me.. I'm able to make a good reach / catch with a sleeveless.

On the QR side, I know a couple of local tri shops that rent suits for the
express purpose of trying them in the water before your purchase - a wise
plan if you want to buy up to a fullsuit with "stealth skin" coating or the
like.

Just my $.02

I tried on the QR and an Orca, I like the Orca's fit a lot more than the QR.

If you don't try them one yourself, you might as well throw darts to pick
one. No one can answer questions about fit for you. And let's not even
begin with how inaccurate the sizing charts can be (esp Orca).

You need to try them on. Several brands. Your best bet is either to go
to an expo at a bigger event, or find mail order places with good return
policies.

Better yet-Find a bike shop that supports the sport, and that actually
CARRIES wetsuits. Talk to a few employees, and try a few on there.
They deserve your business, AND you have the added bonus of trying
before you're buying!
