The Monterey Bay Triathlon is Sunday, July 13; on Saturday a local
pro triathlete (Terry Schneider) will be offering a Swim Clinic at
the race site (Seascape resort). $10 if you're doing the race.

I might check it out myself, since I'll probably do the race.

Hope it helps,

Wolfgang

This Saturday, 12 July, 9am to 11am, there is an open water swim clinic at
the Seaside Resort in Aptos, as a prelude to the Monterey Bay Challenge
Tri on Sunday. It's led by local notable Terry Schneider, and costs $10
for those registered for the tri. I don't know what the cost is
otherwise. More info is available at (408) 688-0620.

I'm planning to be there. I was one of the inexperienced surf swimmers at
Monterey Bay last year who had to come back in because I didn't know how
to negotiate 6 foot waves. A quick explanation and some on scene coaching
from a lifeguard allowed me to get out on my second try, and served me
well in several more ocean swims later on. However, I could be a lot
better, so I'm going to do the clinic on Saturday.

Good luck!
