Hope the holidays are treating all well. Santa brought me a HRM, lots of
Dri-fit running/cycling clothing, Thorlos, and the 1999 video of the SRI
Tri!

Was he good to y'all too?

I got lots of DeSoto Sport stuff! Loved it!

The http://www.desotosport.com/pl3.asp thermal under layer is the most
unbelievable piece of fabric/clothing I have ever had on my body. I wore
this thing yesterday for an hour run in 25F, windy conditions and it was
absolutely perfect, all I had on was that top and a lightweight loose
fitting coolmax t on top of it. I was perfectly warm and comfortable. This
thing is my new favorite underlayer for sure, plus it looks very cool.

Got a pair of short tri shorts, a fleece beanie, and a cool red transition
pack to carry it all in.

I must have been a very good boy. Santa ordered me a shiny red
Kestrel KM-40 frame and fork. It's not here yet, but I've got
the jpeg as my windows background. Oh boy. It's gonna be a
good year.

So, didn't your "boys" get a little cool?

But seriously, for Christmas this year I got the opportunity to find a
significant other who will support my love of exercise. My totally
unsupporting wife is leaving. Here's to a brighter and more fulfilling future
for all!

Best Wishes,

Rus

But really, a new computer!
addidas ozwegos
Shorts
socks

and ......
a solar powered, or hand cranked, flash-light/radio!
The sum total of my Y2K readiness!

(the poorly translated instructions say 'place sunlight or incandescent
light to charge). If I had incandescent light, why would i need
a solar flashlight?

Happy trails

Enjoy the watch, but take note, I've had two of 'em, and after a few swims they
both quit making ANY noise. No lap beep, no alarm, nothing. Otherwise they
worked perfectly, and now mine will occasionally make a noise, but I haven't
taken it swimming in quite some time. I must say though that the 100-lappers
are the perfect watch for the training log procrastinator!

I've swam with mine on 3 times a week for 6 months and it still works
perfectly.

I've had the same 100 lap Ironman chrono in the water for 3 years worth of
swim practice, about 30 triathlons, countless showers, hot tubs, etc. and I
can still hear it beeping whenever it's supposed to.

I finally had to replace the battery after about 2.5 years, and straps
needed to be replaced, but fortunately the Timex folks had buckets of straps
at Ironman. Tricia mentioned this and I held off gettng a new strap until
then, and my plan worked fabulously....so if you need a new strap, just sign
up for an Ironman!

Let me seeee...... a new pair of DeSoto tri-shorts and a really cool
tri-diary training log from Velo News. It's put out by Inside Triathlon and
has a nice forward by Joe Friel. Also has lots of charts and stuff with a
place to record two workouts per day in all the areas. I have been using a
runners log but had trouble finding enough space for all the "different"
entries so this should be an improvement. Oh yeah, I received my USAT card
yesterday so it is a gift to myself too in that I can now avoid the "1 day
liscense" line at this years races. This could prove to be a time and
stress saver.

The very best of the season to all!

This triathlete (Santa), bought his family the Tri-mobile!

In a moment of insanity last nite and pure love for them,
we all (five of us) went down to the dealer as Dad & Mom
did the signing! and Yes Tri-baby, you're going to shoot me!

I'll stay on this side of the Valley, but will drive it to all events,
including IMCA next year...

Besides the car, new watch, winter running clothing (really for
riding), and some real nice frames holding last year's Ironman finish!
My picture was in a newspaper and my wife arranged for it to be
made to 11x14, great looking, so I've got my son in my arms and
two girls are running along side...

Got to figure out how I can top this one at IMCA

I had 3 of the data link ironman watches -- the first two had to be replaced
because they just stopped working - dead. One after a run. One when I got
up in the morning. Both had just blank readouts. The third one got stolen.

Now I'm sporting the free 8 lap ironman watch I won during the broadcast of
ironman canada. Exact same features as my old old im watch, with one [great
big] improvement -- the buttons work well.

--oh ya, Santa brought be cold weather cycling tights!

A solar flashlight? I know, I know; it's a chargeable thing, but the very
name cracks me up.

Got 'Endurance Athlete's Edge', some tights, and running shorts. Used the
tights for my first offroad ride on Christmas Day.

Rode the Bolinas Ridge for about 24mi out and back, hurting like I never
hurt on the road bike and loving it. The day was perfect; temp probably in
the mid 60s, just right to keep one perfectly comfortable while climbing,
climbing, climbing. At about 3pm, while we took a little rest about halfway
along the trail, I looked at my little cohort and suddenly blurted out
'Merry Christmas!!'. We indulged in a brief spontaneous mutilation of
Handel's 'Oratorio' ('Hal-le-lujah!!') before collapsing in giggles.

It was the best Christmas in memory.

I think Santa though I was a bad boy this year, straight after Christmas day
and my laptop blows up and its just outside warranty.

Maybe I shouldn't have drunk all the rum I left out on Christmas eve !

Hope everyone has a very Happy New Year,
and safe driving !

Lets see:

Socks, Shirts, shorts (non running), a book about sheds, a garden bench for
the backyard and a surfboard (that had to buy myself.

Not a single tri-related goodie amongst the lot. I musta been a bad boy
this year.

Santa was good to me. The sweater elf was particularly generous--I can
bundle up against the frigid winters of Austin, TX. ;) I didn't get any
tri goodies either. I suspect my friends and family mostly wouldn't know
a tri if it walked up and slapped them, so they didn't think they could
pick anything out for me. Time to revive the letter to Santa?
