Doesn't work like that. He has to run himself as well and big part of
his game was being fit.
You try to make it sound like he was just standing there. He wasn't.

Nope, don't remember it, but I do remember their match at Wimbledon,
where Agassi did just as much running if not more than Nadal.
He has an excuse for pretty much every loss he ever had. 2006 ones are
easiest to believe though. His body really was finished.

That one is also one of the easiest to believe. Must be hard to
concentrate when you are afraid all the time that thing falls down...

I've seen the entire match, and yes it was a good match, high quality.
And yet, Sampras was only able to play as well as his almost-30 yr old
body would allow. As great a server as he was, given the quality of
Fed's returns, Sampras was not able to close in to the net as fast as
he would've liked. He was a step slow and less explosive, if you
compare him to 1999. That makes a difference, more for a S/V'er than a
baseliner.
Yes... Pete did often get 'tired' even in his prime... in the 1990s he
could get away with it...
P
This Sampras guy, amazingly good tennis player, but not an ounce of
tennis legacy awareness. "Do I want to tie jimbo's record at the USO,
win my 14th slam cementing my status as GOAT, and not have my first
slamless year since 1992? After all, I just have to be arsed for one
more match... right? What's that? Nothing? Nope. Can't be arsed".
