And which are catholics, or even methodists ?
That's very interesting.

Aren't you sure? ;-)

Didn't there use to be a player from Israel on the men's tour? I
forget his name. Didn't he get into tiff on the court with someone.
For some reason, I think maybe it was Yannick Noah or Arazi.
>Can anyone tell me which tennis stars are Jewish?
I believe Justin Gimelstob is Jewish, not sure about any other
current players.

Mansdorf? He had an incident with Noah's family during a match. Can't
remember his first name. Journeyman. I believe Jay Berger and Harold Solomon
are Jewish.I am sure there are more.

"So let it be e-mailed ... so let it be done."
None of today's stars, as far as I know. Anna Smashnova, born in
Russia, lives in Isreal, is ranked #39. She lost in the first round of
Wimbledon. By name alone, Paul Goldstein of the US may be Jewish. While
ranked in the 120's, he seems to be moving up nicely.
Tom Okker, of the Netherlands, was a top ten player in the late 60's
Aaron Krickstein was briefly a star in the late 80's and played some
Davis Cup for the US. Jay Berger, as others mentioned, was briefly
seventh in the world in 90 or 91 before his knee gave out.

I'd like to hear more about this. Was their grandmother a convert,
was she a black African (verses a black American)? Oh wouldn't be
funny if their grandmother was a white European Jewish woman!?! But
of course they (as well as their parents) look way too dark for that
to be the case. Also, is this grandmother on their mother's or
father's side of the family.
Amos Mansdorf. Shlomo Glickstein and Aaron Krickstein are, too, but I don't
know of any current players other than Gimelstob.

Let's drop this "Jewish" euphemism, OK, Joel? the question is, "Which
tennis stars are Jews?" You wouldn't ask, "Which tennis stars are
Catholicish?" would you?

Because knowing something about a player's life humanizes them. Maybe
we shouldn't even know the names of the players. Just player #18339
will play player #87223 for the Wimbledon championship! That should
solve all these non-tennis issues.

Aaron Krickstein still holds the distinction of being the youngest to win a
pro tennis tournament at 16 (Chang had his feat at 17) and that tournament
was in Tel Aviv.
> Krickstein famous (before Chang) for his five set comebacks.
Krickstein imho has a more impressive record with five setters, in fact, I
think he still is the only player to have a winning record when down to
sets to love.
As for that tiff someone mentioned, I think it was the '89 US Open 4th
round when Noah on camera was saying "dont' talk bad to my family" and
withdrawing a handshake. Amos Mansdorf was saying that he was being not
only taunted but berated and felt obligated to respond after taking it for
so long.
Well just to round out the list, someone forgot Brad Gilbert.
I thought Leyton Hewitt took over that record. Not so?
I'm not positive, but it wouldn't surprise me if Brad Gilbert was a member of
the tribe.

the bagel twins? Did they eat them or play a lot of 6-0 sets?
wg
>the bagel twins? Did they eat them or play a lot of 6-0 sets?
I don't know where the name came from, but I've read it a few different
places. They did have the kind of relentless baseline games that could
bagel a lesser player.
Stefan Edberg?
It was a typically lame joke by Bud "Fancy Pants" Collins.

If I remember my modern history about Sweden, every Swedish citizen when
born usually takes up Lutherism.

Uh oh, did you ever hear of the former PM of Israel David Ben-Gurion's
study on what is Jewish?
I digress- big time.
