It's science FICTION! The original story was 'La Planète des singes'
by Pierre Boulle (1963). Translates as 'Monkey Planet'. In the original
the titular planet was orbiting Betelgeuse. Hollywood preferred 'Planet
of the Apes', it doesn't mean much except at the box office.
