There is a site dedicated to it.

http://www.moviemaidens.com/

A vegetarian leaks. MovieMaidens.com is dedicated to the most
beautiful classic actresses during the first 50 years of
Hollywood...remembering them when they were young and beautiful.

We are so sick of seeing history's most beautiful female actors
portrayed as old women. How many times have you seen Joan Crawford as
a 50 year old with enormous eyebrows and clown-like lipstick, Bette
Davis as a shaky old woman with a cigarette, Elizabeth Taylor at 220
pounds, or Shirley MacLaine as a psychic nutcase?

These actresses burst onto the Hollywood scene as beautiful young
women, and they should be remembered as the gorgeous girls that they
were. We want everyone to experience the beauty of these women, to
encourage you to watch their old movies, and to fall in love with
them, as moviegoers did, when they were young.

Ingrid Bergman came in at 21st, not too bad for an average looker
*rolls eyes*. I would put Hedy Lammarr at #1 and Gene Tierney at #2.
And where is Maureen O Hara?

Nah, this list has it right. Taylor is right where she should be, at
the top of the list in terms of beauty. She makes Bergman look like an
average peasant beauty-wise imo. Vivien Leigh was also very beautiful
imo.

I will comment on whatever I wish. It is merely opinion. Taylor was
more beautiful than Bergman. Look at the list YOU posted above. Taylor
has 700,000 more fans than Bergman. Taylor was Hollywood royalty.

The list doesn't prove that at all but it does show that Taylor was
clearly more popular. In my eyes Taylor was a lot better looking than
Bergman was is that ok with you? Clearly you can't seem to accept
that. I accept that you prefer Bergman but I don't have to agree with
it. I don't think Bergman was a great actress either.

Yep... Hedy Lamarr and Ava Gardner and Tierney and Hayworth (not my fav but she was a legend in the looks department) better looking than Taylor, no doubt about it... classic, sultry, women... with stunning faces... Gardner thee queen in my personal view...

Audrey Hepburn the most adorable, cute looking of all time in Hollywood with Loretta Young right there... Young's movies from the late 20s and 1930s shows why she was so prized as a beauty...

There's no right answer certainly... Monroe second though???...

On a 'sex bomb' list Monroe, Gardner, Hayworth, Loren and Bardot battling it out for top spot with wannabe Russell in there somewhere...

THIS. We could argue all day long and in the end it is a matter of
personal opinion which varies from person to person. You see Lamarr as
the most beautiful and I see a young Taylor and Grace Kelly as the
most classically beautiful.

This is a list of actresses from 1920-50s. Was Halle Berry even born
then? Either way I dont think Halle Berry is that beautiful. If you
want black beauty check Tyra Banks circa 1997.

Calhoun, most of the posters here are white. It's not a "racist" list
if whites pick whites on a most beautiful list. Just last month Ebony
did a "Top 10" beauty list and all the people on it were black. That's
also not racist. People who attracted to whom they're attracted to. If
a list is all Asian, all white, all black, all red, brown or purple
does NOT make it racist.

What's wrong with Alek Wek from Sudan who is beautiful?
Your Halle Berry is a cutie and looks like she has black in her. So
in reality you have chosen a person who looks near white to represent
a black to be among the most beautiful?

Some of those in control and who may have the power to determine who
is black
or who is not white. (Speaking about the U.S. btw)

A bit of "U.S.A." history not many are aware of:
Blacks in Mexico were not segregated, but were integrated into the
system as everyone else. About 25% of the "Spanish" Southwestern
Spanish (Arizona-New Mexico-Colorado-Utah- California- etc) colonists
were Black, and they also were integrated into the Spanish/Hispanic
system. So today if you ask anyone who is from the region they say
they are "Hispanic". Hence, they were not segregated like you find
blacks segregated in the southern U.S. states.

These Black colonists under the Spanish flag for centuries had land
grants, owned land, etc like any of the other colonists.

Fyi, the majority of Spanish colonists were Native American, approx
only 5%
white. They refer to themselves as Americans of "Hispanos- Hispano
Indio etc"
background.

You are a true American, also appears from what you say your ancestral
roots go back to Africa and Europe.

What I find a little strange, is the following list is suppose to be a
list of
black women beauties, but more than half are part white. Just looked
up their bios.

Should have added:

Hispanic Blacks-Hispanic Native Americans-Spanish etc, were not
segregated under the Spanish flag, however March of 1848, All
Hispanics whether Native American hispanic- Black- or Spanish Were
segregated, mistreated, murdered as the
southern Blacks were, and have been fighting discrimination since
under the
U.S. American flag.

Per capita more Hispanics in the southwestern states were hung just
for speaking Spanish, having a Spanish surname, having property, etc.
than blacks in the south.

Lena Horne was 'famous' for being in pictures in performing cameos where she came on to sing and dance at times, mostly sing, in her prime years as a person in the movies she didn't have many speaking parts... after she got older she had stage roles... she's noteably a songstress and musical diva, her lasting fame as a recording artist and musical performer... she was only a very marginal 'actress'... because she was marginalized, sadly, that was the era she came up in...

True. I never said Cali has a good sense of humor, but it's possible
he's only displaying 1 narrow part of his personality here in rst -
anything that relates to Graf & almost nothing else.

I'm just saying he physically resembles my cousin in that pic, who

well, Paulette Goddard might be the prettiest woman in movies--ever.
Eva Marie Saint looked pretty good in "On the Waterfront." Pola Negri
was once the hottest actress in movies. Marion Davies was very cute
when young; and gets bonus points for her devastating impersonations,
with Pola Negri among her victims.

Moira Shearer made one movie of importance, but remains the ultimate
fantasy of Scottish men and/or men who love dancers.

She would be on the list but NOT as the very top. Vivien Leigh, Rita
Hayworth, Hedy Lamarr, etc Elizabeth Taylor was quite a bit younger
than Bergman so she would be a later entry on that list as would Grace
Kelly.

Yes of course. And Bergman died in 1982 almost 30 years ago. She
didn't die like Liz Taylor just now. So obviously Liz gets all the
votes from the current generation. Very good points. And lets not
forget Bergman was Swedish... a foreigner... she would not get as much
votes in an American site as an American icon would.

Yes, she looks like a house maid. Nothing special about her. Tyra in

was a supermodel and Berry had to fuck that ugly bastard in Monsters

My point was that Serena started winning big from a very young age--
i.e. beating other big players when she was 15 or 16 and then she
started winning titles from a very young age. 17 is not young for you?
I did not look up the exact age she started winning titles before I
posted (I should have for the sake of accuracy) but my point was
correct. She started winning big things as a young teen. If you want
to nitpick and say she was 17 when she won her first title instead of
15 fine but my point still stands.

What about our bet that Serena would demolish Maria next time they
played on red clay? You squirmed out of our FO bet because you were
wrong and I was correct. Why don't we talk about that? Come on, stop
being a big baby, lol.

O'Hara was indeed a consummate beauty... like Ava Gardner and Hedy Lamarr... three statuesque women, with amazing sex appeal and heavenly faces...

Taylor was impish, small legged, with a double chin when she laughed and a voice that squeeked as soon as she raised it as Richard Burton famously said... My mother saw Liz Taylor in 1955 on a beach in Florida and said she was a very striking woman with an 'odd shaped' body...

Taylor did not have a double chin when she was younger. When she was

Impossible to have a better looking face than Taylor's when she was

I think you need to accept that. You said I am into zoophilia because
I found young Steffi beautiful. You are the one who is non-accepting
of others. Look into the mirror, first... you will see an ugly face.

Re Taylor, I think she was beautiful when she was younger, I never
said she was fucking normal with her multiple husbands, etc. She was a
nut no doubt about it. Most of them are in Hollywood. What does that
have to do with her beauty? You know that Ingrid Bergman whom you
adore, was married three times and was the focus of one of the biggest
scandals in Hollywood back in the day when she left her hubby for

She was a whore just like most of the actresses (and actors) in
Hollywood. She slept with most of her leading men and the biggest
scandal in Hollywood in those days was Bergman/Rossellini. It was a
sign of the times, it would not be a scandal in today's world and
there was a huge double standard back in the day (there still is today
in fact.) If it were an actor who was married multiple times instead
of an actress I am sure we would not hear a peep out of you on the
subject. (rolls eyes)

"There was a time in the early and mid-1940s when Bergman commanded a
kind of love in America that has been hardly ever matched. In turn, it
was the strength of that affection that animated the 'scandal' when
she behaved like an impetuous and ambitious actress instead of a saint

Director George Cukor once summed up her contributions to the film
media when he said to her, "Do you know what I especially love about
you, Ingrid, my dear? I can sum it up as your naturalness. The camera
loves your beauty, your acting, and your individuality. A star must
have individuality. It makes you a great star. A great star"
