Awful, awful match. Piss poor serving from the legend that is Nole. Returns
not much better. Precision ? What precision ?

Malisse seemed to be holding serve far easier as the match went on .. until
the last game when he realised he was facing one of the greatest players of
all time, and so collapsed in time-honored tradition.

Murray would destroy this Nole.

It was his first match for a long time. Most likely just a little
rusty. Or then he has lost his magic during the time off. But probably
will get better in every match.

I am interested in Fed - Jarkko tomorrow. Jarkko has played really
well in the last weeks, and has played Fed very close in Basel before.

Nole hit 7 dfs. That was like his bad serving days before this year.

Has Jarkko beaten Fed before ?

No. H2H is 11-0 and Jarkko hasn't even won a set... But the closest
match was in Basel in 2008. I watched it, Jarkko broke Fed's first
service game and I think it was 15-40 in the next one so almost 4-0.
Fed won the match 7-6, 7-6. They also played in the final in Basel in
2007.

No wonder you're excited.

I wouldn't bet on it changing tomorrow. Fed looked good yesterday for a
first match back....plenty of s&v'ing on the zippy surface.

I'm not saying it was a good match -- you're right, it wasn't -- but
Malisse was also very competitive with Tsonga in Wien, losing 46 76 64
to the Frenchman in the quarters.

Well the thing about it is Murray has been playing the past month and
done well in Asia whereas Federer and Djokovic have not played at all
aside from whatever practice sessions they have participated in.
Of course Djokovic would have looked rusty. Federer looked very rusty
to me as well from the clip I saw of his first match.

As I have said numerous times, now is the time for Murray to take
charge with Federer and Djokovic rusty and Nadal not playing his best.
If Murray can't do it now, he will never do it.
