Player lodging

Hi

The other day, a friend and I were thinking about the place the players stay during a tournament (let's say Rome now). Does it gets arranged by the tournament organization or the players are left to they own devices?

We thought it would be logic for the tournament to keep (at least the top players.. the seeded ones?) in the same place for organizational purposes but we haven't find any evidence.

Does anyone knows better?

The rich ones hire posh private houses or hotel suites....the poor ones stay
in cheap hotels, b&b's....or in some noteable cases, they sleep in their car
in the tournament carpark.

Big tournaments have player liason dept's....and usually a player entry
reception, where the players must check in and out of the ground....and
update the tournament as to their movements etc. On playing days, the
players are given a time by which they must arrive on site....usually a good
margin before their match.

yeah there's usually a designated player hotel too and at Wimbledon
they often stay in local houses that locals rent out.

I think they were at the Sheraton in Stockholm.. and this year in Madrid they had the cars clustered at one hotel (I can't remeber the name).
