Gasquet looking for a hardcourt title

He hasn't won a hardcourt title for a long time. He's playing very
well. He defeated Fish yesterday and Isner today. He showed strong
defence and he was serving well.

I saw some of the match between Haas and Djokovic and I think Gasquet
may have a chance here. Djoker missing some routine stuff vs. Haas,
who also showed that he is an outlier...in as much as he hasn't lost
much of his game at all at age 34.

Isner impressed me somewhat as I had always hated his game
previously. Fish was a bit of a mope on court.

I see they have just taken Djoke and Tipsi off for the rain before tha match
even started. Perhaps Djoke playing twice tomorrow might help Gasq? :)

Only caught a bit of this match, but it was fun stuff. Djoke not on his best
stuff, but you instantly see he is a different player on fast HC. Going to
take some beating come US Open likely.

I never really understand the hate Isner gets....especially the past year or
so - he has really been improving. Showing some great all round play this
week....and particularly deft touch on volleys. It doesn't always look
graceful, certainly.

I wouldn't say hate, but personally I simply don't like watching
awkward players.
Isner falls into that category, as do Querrey, Karlović, etc.
Even my dear fellow Canadian Raonic is awkward when it comes right
down to it, but I have much more tolerance watching him.

Gasquet falls into the 'awkward' category for me as well. This time
not gangly awkward, but 'weird tennis build' awkward. He's not short,
but appears dwarf-like to me.

He looks short by today's standard. I like Gasquet's game. When he
goes for backhand
winners he too often hits the ball long and he's not very selective
about when he goes for the
big winner. He's had a good week of tennis and I think he's got a
good chance to win this.

Speaking about Gasquet (who was completely outclassed by the Djoker in
the final).
Do you know of any other player who bounces the ball before serving,
with a flat palm?

Gasquet is hardly a dwarf, he's the same height as Fed: 6'1. He just
looks "short" because he has short legs and is long-torsoed.
Reeeechard is gorgeous in person thought a little haughty.

I think it's his shoulders. They slope at a surprisingly sharp angle, and
that makes him look shorter and physically unimpressive. Federer and
Gasquet are exactly the same height, but Federer seems the taller of the
two because by contrast he has broad, square shoulders.

Isner couldn't move either when he first got going... Raonic keeps
improving and will continue to improve; he's a hard worker and knows
his issues... obviously, he's shorter than John, so, there's hope for
significant upside coming through...

Yes... he's improving and so will Raonic... Raonic puts in the time;
he's very dedicated and keen to improve... so we might say, at least,
he'll give himself every opportunity to get better in the coming
years... he's already proven he can win tournaments, so, that
threshold has been breeched...

mentioned Tippsy being mentally weak, well, Gasquet has been well
seasoned for losing over the last 5 years... :))
