For those interested. I will ask my wife to add more. She is the new
webmaster of the site. Hopefully it gets better ;-)

Not many wedding pics there, I will add them in the evening.

She is cute, great eyes and smile.

But when she finds out that you think Queen has more iconic songs than
the Beatles, there will be a massive firestorm of anger and
incredulity from her.

Just sayin'.

Well I was not serious about this. Just messing with the Beatles
fans ;-)

She doesnt know anything about western music. I am (mis)guiding
her ;-) I made her listen to Led Zeppelin I, Led Zeppelin IV, Close to
the Edge, Black Sabbath, Machine Head, Space Ritual and The Dark Side
of the Moon. She likes fast energetic songs.

She likes Zeppelin and Purple a lot. Likes a bit of Sabbath too. Her
favorite song is Black Dog by Led Zeppelin.

She might be pleasing you. I certainly wouldn't play that kind of music
for her...try something more melodic like Beatles...or even better don't
push your own taste...
Just my thought, for what it's worth.

No. I played her the Beatles - few songs. She didn't like it that
much. She has learned all the lyrics of Black Dog. She likes heavy
fast songs only. She likes heavy drums in the music.

Her favorite songs are...
Black Dog - Zeppelin
Slow Ride - Foghat
Start me Up - Rolling Stones
Lonely Is the Night - Billy Squier
Centrefold - J. Geils Band

--- see the trend?

I tried slow songs with her, she said she likes music she can dance
to.

I played her ABBA, she liked it a bit. Not as much as hard rock. I
think she will find disco very cheesy.

No. I did play her one of the new dance oriented songs - the one that

She is a Computer Engineer and has been doing working for past 6
years. She is smarter than me, really.

First of all most of the stuff I like is hard rock/heavy metal
(Zeppelin, Hawkwind, Purple, Sabbath, Rush, Maiden, Metallica, GNR,
Slayer, Megadeth to name a few). Yes, there are a few prog bands here
and there that I like (Yes, Floyd, Van Der Graaf Generator, Can,
Kraftwerk are the only ones I really like that can be considered prog
and out of that only Yes is a hardcore prog band). There is nothing
grand-daddy about the music I like. The music was made before I was
born but sounds modern even to till this day.

I dont think she cares about tennis, so I wouldn't bother introducing
older players to her.

Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language, with roots in Sanskrit. Tamil is a
Dravidian language, one of the oldest languages in the world (nearly
2000 years old) and is the least influenced by Sanskrit, of all Indian
languages. Malayalam is spoken in the neighboring southern Indian
state of Kerala. It is more influenced by Sanskrit, but is closer to
Tamil.

Ok, thanks. So if I understood above correctly: Sanskrit is the

because of geographical proximity perhaps?

South Indian languages such as Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam borrowed
a lot of Sanskrit words. Tamil exists independently of Sanskrit, but
there are some sections of the Tamil-speaking community (Brahmins) in
whose spoken Tamil you can find many Sanskrit words.

I like only selected Tamil movies. Mani Ratnam made some good Tamil
movies. Its the same with Hindi. These days even most of the Hollywood
movies suck. I am sick of this CGI crap. Why don't they make movies
like Goodfellas, The Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs anymore?

There was nothing traditional about how we met and started liking each
other. But anyway no point explaining that to you.

Cool beans...watch out though - my normally shy and retiring wife has a
temper on her when she is on court. That's why I never play doubles with
her....if the racquet is gonna fly, I make sure I am at least across the
net! ;)

Its been recently proven that Tamil is the oldest language and
Sanksrit came shortly after. I might be wrong about this.

i don't believe parents picking marriages is in line with women's
rights. maybe if you were a woman you'd agree. i know a pakistani
girl and a bengali girl pretty well, and they both tell me how much
influence their mothers have in who they date or would marry. 1 lives
in US now, 1 in canada - and they are sick about that concept. they
want to be able to choose who they want w/out any interference, but
hey, if that's the culture of their parents, none of my business.

anyhow, raja said that's not how it happened with him, so fine with
me. guess i misinterpreted his original post months ago on the
choosing procedure.

Well, my parents did not even meet her before we decided to marry.

I think they should be sick of the idea that they are pussy enough to
listen to what their mom's say.

you call them pussy's, but they describe it as a family browbeating
that if they dont' follow traditions they will be outcasts. that's why
i don't condone it.

my philosophy on this and other matters is clear: if you want to be a
productive part of this country, and bring an aspect of your culture
with you, fine - so long as it's not middle ages mentality, anti human
rights, anti women's rights, and so on. congrats on your marriage, now
don't bother me. :-)

Mani Ratnam has not given a super hit in a long time. Since your wife
knows Tamil very well, you may want to ask her what movies to
watch :)

Watch South Indian films for a change ;) I can recommend one movie
with title "Kandukondain Kandukondain"

http://www.amazon.com/I-Have-Found-Kandukondain/dp/B0006J280U.

Songs are great. Let it be your first Tamil movie ;) You will get a
feel of South Indian film music.

However, if you are not a fan of sentimental topics do not touch the
above.

Thanks for recommendation. My main gripe with bollywood is though that
I'm not really a fan of musicals. have to say the lead actress looks
gorgeous...
