Andy Murray has pulled out of the French Open with the back injury that
forced him out of the Italian Open.
Britain's world number two retired injured in the second round in Rome
and after consulting specialists has decided to opt out of Roland Garros.
"It's been a really tough decision, and I love playing in Paris, but
after seeking medical advice I'm not fit to compete," said Murray, 26.
The second Grand Slam tournament of the year begins at Roland Garros on
26 May.

Well I sure hope Rafa is in Fed's side of the draw, bottom half.

"It's been a really tough decision, and I love playing in Paris, but
after seeking medical advice I'm not fit to compete," said the US Open
champion.
"Apologies to the organisers and thanks to everyone for the messages of
support. Now my complete focus is on getting back on the court as soon
as possible."

Murray struggled with a lower-back problem throughout the clay season
last year. One match against Jarkko Nieminen during the French Open
prompted former Wimbledon champion Virginia Wade to call him a "drama
queen".

He had injections before Wimbledon but said the problem returned in
Madrid two weeks ago and did not improve with rest.

"Until Madrid, it had been OK but it's not been perfect for a long
period," Murray said at the Italian Open. "You always go into matches
with little niggles and such, but it's frustrating when for a long
period you're hurting.
"It's been an issue for a while now and I want to make sure it goes
away. It's not enjoyable when you're playing in pain."

Fed has had Nole so many times in his half....I think it's only fair that
Nadal trades in Ferrer for Nole. Interessssting!! :)

Well there is no chance of Fed being in Nole's half this time...

The trade is for Rafa between Nole&Fed... and for Fed between
Rafa&Ferrer - which one do you think they prefer? :-P

...yes I am aware....and yet it is still Nads turn to get Nole....Fed to get
Ferrer. And yet....it seems so....unlikely! One can but hope!

All about Wimby this year for Muzz then! Everyone else coming in

Isn't that the second time that he's pulled out of this year's French Open? I've
never heard of that before.

When did he pull out previously?

Do believe you're correct, and why not he doesn't get many chances to
win vs the big three.

annoying, much as I a Murray fan, he should be forced to play the FO
esp when it only a slight back injury.

It's a good thing that Muzz pulled out as he realized he had no chance to win so he is concentrating on the big W ...which he also has no chance of winning!

My "tank" sensor is off the scale. Same thing happened at US Open and AO
when pointed in Nads direction! :^)

I thought I heard it on radio news more than a week ago.

He said initially that "he would be surprised if he was playing Roland
Garros"....but deferred on a decision until the middle of this week, after
he had undergone scans and tests. Last I heard was that his scan had come
back clear and it looked like he would play. Fairly sure he is tanking
it....everything on the line for the big W.

God is good we already going to be watching boring ass, long ass clay matches we don't need Ambien Murray boring self on the court. People got shit to do we don't for his 4 hour matches. He should just relax and go fix his mama teeth.

Muzz pulled out of the FO because he knew he had no chance to win. He can concentrate all he wants on W but again he can never win that 1! He is scared ...scared ...scared!

Consider that Murray is the #2 ranked player in the world and has done
basically nothing in 2013. He won that 250 Brisbane tourney defeating
chokemeister Dimi in the final. He then won Miami when clown supreme
Ferrer choked even more massively than Muzzy. His clay season has been
a joke.

No one has done anything in 2013 except Djoker early on and Rafa. Sad
state for tennis.

Roger doesn't run from Nadal he take his ass whipping like a men. which I'm ok with it, Dave who has more issues about it. I really just need roger to win one or two more slams. I know it a tough task but that my hope. A dude can hope right but in the end roger has gave me some good momment in a sport i didn't pick up on until i was in my 20's

lol you never know what could happen so roger has to give it a try it just sad he doesn't try different thing when playing nadal i would slice Nadal like Graf did because roger can't roll over the ball on the backhand and get it deep enough to hurt Nadal. That might give him more time to get back into position. Also he should stand a little farther back.
