I am not preaching the religion. I just read about this and found it
is cool that there is a concept of Atheism in Hinduism. That makes it
the only religion to accept Atheism.

---------------------------------------------------------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism_in_Hinduism

Atheism (Sanskrit: निरीश्वरवाद, nir-īśvara-vāda, lit. "statement of no
Lord", "doctrine of godlessness") or disbelief in God or gods has been
a historically propounded viewpoint in many of the orthodox and
heterodox streams of Hindu philosophies.Generally, atheism is valid in
Hinduism, but some schools view the path of an atheist to be difficult
to follow in matters of spirituality.

Hindu atheists accept Hinduism more as a "way of life" than a
religion. They are unlike other Hindus in their religious outlook, but
they share the same cultural and moral values.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism#Concept_of_God

Hinduism is a diverse system of thought with beliefs spanning
monotheism, polytheism, panentheism, pantheism, monism, and atheism
among others and its concept of God is complex and depends upon each
individual and the tradition and philosophy followed. It is sometimes
referred to as henotheistic (i.e., involving devotion to a single god
while accepting the existence of others), but any such term is an
overgeneralization.

Atheistic doctrines dominate Hindu schools like Samkhya and Mimamsa.
The Sāṁkhyapravacana Sūtra of Samkhya argues that the existence of God
(Ishvara) cannot be proved and hence cannot be admitted to
exist.Samkhya argue that an unchanging God cannot be the source of an
ever changing world. It says God was a necessary metaphysical
assumption demanded by circumstances. Proponents of the school of
Mimamsa, which is based on rituals and orthopraxy states that the
evidence allegedly proving the existence of God was insufficient. They
argue that there is no need to postulate a maker for the world, just
as there is no need for an author to compose the Vedas or a God to
validate the rituals. Mimamsa considers the Gods named in the Vedas
have no existence apart from the mantras that speak their names. To
that regard, the power of the mantras is what is seen as the power of
Gods.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I can be an atheist and still declare myself as an Atheistic
Hindu... cool

PS: You are a moron to think ALL Hindus don't eat beef. Beef curry is
a favorite food from where my parents and my wife's parents come from.

No. That is not what Hinduism says - do whatever you want. It teaches
about karma (action) and dharma (duties). And how if your karma does
not follow dharma, it will come back and haunt you. I do believe that
your bad actions eventually come back to haunt you. Thats why they say
karma is a bitch ;-)

Yes, very interesting. I was under the impression Judaism is almost as
strict as Islam.

"A high percentage of Israelis identify themselves as secular,
rejecting the practice of the Jewish religion (see Religion in
Israel). While some non-believers of Jewish ancestry do not consider
themselves Jews, preferring to define themselves solely as atheists,
Judaism is arguably a culture and tradition that one can easily
embrace without religious faith"

Nonsense... anyone can believe in whatever they want. Everyone has a
different opinion. I believe there is a God and Evil inside you, so no
need to search outside. Look for the God inside anyway. Anyone can be
God, anyone can be Devil. As for the creation of the universe, no one
knows. I believe there is no beginning or ending of the Universe. I do
not believe in all the scientific theories. But I do believe in
science. But I do not believe science can explain everything. Neither
religion. Simply because there is no creator and no beginning or
ending of Universe. If there is a creator, who created him? And what
was the creator doing before he created the Universe? holding on to
this dick?

This will go above your head as usual.

This isn't a crazy part of Hinduism. This just say that Atheism has
been accepted (since a long time) by certain Hindus while sticking to
certain Hindu principles but not all. Relating athiesm in Hinduism
with Mormon or Scientology is really something only a fool would do.

Or you don't know....but outside of this ultimate question there is
the fact that
you have to negotiate good and bad, right and wrong on this earth for
the duration
of your time here....if faith is the biggest aspect of your religion
then you may see
Buddhism or Hinduism as merely trendy fads...and of course if it's
cool to be a
Buddhist, I can understand your feeling about this.

I was an Atheist for much of my life. The more science I studiied the
more I came
to the opposite conclusion....but as far as religion goes, I would say
take your wisdom
from wherever you can find it and that doesn't mean you have to limit
yourself to religious
writings.

Look, the simple fact is we're 1 species out of millions just on earth.
Multiply that by the trillions of planets & life forms out there &
you'll quickly realise how arrogant it is for us to think we can
possibly hope to understand the universe/existence. Our intelligence is
way down the food chain as far as understanding the cosmos goes.

If some super being came to earth & 'explained' everything to us, we

Given humanity is a fad, it stands to reason any religion is also a fad.
The sun takes about 250 million years to make 1 orbit of the Milky
Way, & humanoids have been around for about 3 million yrs. So if we
reduce the orbit to a 12 hr clock, humanity has only been around for 1
minute.

Where were all the religions/gods 99.9% of the time humans weren't

If not, why not? Well, I suppose ever since humans could contemplate
their existence, they probably
had some form of religion, even if the only evidence may be etchings
in caves. Without written history it's
difficult to know how ancient people saw themselves in terms of god,
creation, existence.

I'm not sure where you're going with this question. That some may not
accept religion as a human
construct? The laws of physics existed before we explained them and
uncovered them. Doesn't make
the truths any less valid. Likewise the flaws, omissions or
assumptions written into religious doctrine don't
make the overall philosophy/religion worthless....we are constantly
updating scientific knowledge to patch the holes
where assumptions had to be used. The flaws in our old scientific
models don't mean that the complete theory
is garbage....just parts of it...religion can be seen in a similar
light if you're going to be fair.

Any movement can be populist, even religion. That isn't to detract
from it's value. If a piece of music is popular, thousands of men
wearing Beatles haircuts or wearing Led Zeppelin t-shirts doesn't make
the music bad but there will always be people who want to belong....so
they join a group, be it religious, social, sporting or otherwise just
to be part of the gang without necessarily knowing much about the
religion, for example.

But to answer your question directly....yes and no. : - )))

Maybe....probably IMO but I have no proof. I'm willing to entertain
the idea that there
are plenty of life forms out there...and given the numbers it seems
intuitively logical that
there are life forms out there that also contemplate their existence
and have had more time
and better resources with which to figure out the answers.

Lol You dumb ass you can't list Wikipedia a source on a paper, it not a creditable source. The creators of Wikipedia are the first to admit that it not the best source of material for research papers. Im going with the 2013 world Almanac and book of facts. lol but you can keep citing wiki in fact, put it on biography and see if people gives a fuck about your point of view.

There's no excuse for god taking 4 billion yrs to get organized. 3, 4
weeks tops.

God does not need anyone or anything nor does he have to do anything
because in God's realm there is no time. Time does not exist in
heaven. You can't cope with that because your understanding is limited
by your human nature.

ROFLMAO... God seems like a lazy fat ass... He was sleeping all those
160 million years dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Humans have so far lived
only 3 million years and don't seem like would last too long with self
destructive nuclear weapons being made. I highly doubt humans will
last as long as the dinosaurs. If the dinosaurs were alive, they will
be laughing at us at how stupid we are. We have managed to ruin the
planet with all the pollution. And now we are blowing up people with
pressure cooker bombs and hijacked airplanes.

Also God seems to be biased to the dinosaurs who never worshiped him.
He let them live long in a better planet with no population, less
disease and lot more oxygen.

Dinosaurs probably evolved to a point they didn't need to believe in
god, so he rewarded them with a long lifespan on this planet. Dinosaurs
won the challenge, so now god wants to try a new game with humans & see
if we can do it too. We're still in the early stages of evolution
compared to Dinosaurs & haven't yet shaken off the god worship thing.
Too many bogans still running around killing in the name of god.
They're too dumb to realize god has control over everything so just
chill out as he's in charge.

Good post Whisper. I am impressed. Yes, most wars are fought in the
name of God and religion. The "my God is better than yours or Your
God does not exist, but mine does" is one of the silliest debate
humans ever invented.

No. I cannot know God. God can never be fully known or understood by
man because he is totally beyond us. We are only capable of knowing
God to the extent he reveals Himself to our lowly human minds. Ergo we
can only know Him in human terms up to the point of human ability but
we do know He is far beyond that. We knows God like a dog knows the
sun. It can see it so it is aware it is there but that's about all.

God had His reasons. Reasons that are beyond your comprehension as a
lowly man. Do you know how to creat the Universe? Did you create every
living thing on earth ? No, God did so shut the fuck up cause you are
totally incapable of judging God and His works.
