Federer vs Wawrinka... Stan playing well but Fed looks OK here... 4
sets though likely.

Cilic (if he beats Meyer) vs. Soderling is a monster tilt in the
making... a lot of big serving and hitting in this one!
Slight edge to Soderling whose found his mojo all of a sudden.

Murray vs. Berdych... Berdman hitting the cover off the ball right
now... Murray's defense and variety to be tested to the limit here...
I like Berdych in 4.

Youzhny, if he gets past Lenin :) then he's in the mix with Tsonga,
who has been on and off all tournament... playing some very odd sets,
even those he wins... edge to Tsonga in 4 sets.

Possible Top Quaters:
Federer-Soderling
Berdych-Tsonga

Soderling will be looking to put Fed on ice FINALLY... and the 'O'
will have to go some time... Is Soderling about to become Pete's
newest name on his Christmas Card list?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still a lot of places to be decided... quick projection here:

Roddick-Ferrer: Is there an upset for Roddick possible against Ferrer?
Might Ferrer be burnt out a bit? If it stays dry could be... I'm
taking Ferrer...

Ferrero-Djokovic... not sure JCF will get there but I like Djokovic to
come through and finally start showing some quality later in a
tournament??? Is Joker the upset special victim waiting to happen? Or
is it Ferrer?

Koli-Verdasco will meet Dolgopolov-Almagro winner... those two matches
might well decide if Nadal can go on to win the tournament... because
a solid challenger is going to have to come from this grouping of 4
players... Is Dolgo ready to make a big time move in world tennis???

Lubicic to get through to face Nadal... man, we have seen this one
before... too many times...

Ferrer-Djokovic
Dolgopolov-Nadal

The top side of the bottom half is tough to call... Nadal looks like a
lock in the other side... only Lubo having a career day stands in his
way...

Yep, Cilic needed 5 sets to get rid of Meyer.
Robin found his mojo not all of a sweden (if you allow me this one!),
but clearly out of the RG stadium. He really seems to like the place.
I like both, can't root for one more than the other.
Yet Söderling seems a more "logical" choice.

I can't pick either.
Murray impressed me so far, I wasn't expecting him to play that good
on clay.
Berdych has trashed most of what he faced so far...
Should be a highly interesting match, if Berdych keeps his brain cool,
otherwise I bet Murray will confortably win.
Murray possibly a more "logical" choice.

I want Tsonga to win, no matter if it's vs Mika or Viktor.
If Viktor's girlfriend hasn't changed, I'd like to see him facing JoW,
if he brings her to the stadium.
She is... Sunčica Travica

Are you trying to upset whisper? :-)

Ferrer as well, even if I really like to see Andy going deep at the
FO.
David looks a bit too solid on clay.

Let's hope JCF will make to this round.
I'd like to see him playing Djokovic: I am wondering how much JCF can
trouble Novak.

I enjoyed watching Dolgo. Won't be easy to beat Almagro, yet...
Amlagro might be tired more than Dolgo.
Verdasco had a set off today... And Koli used to play well against
lefty spaniard, despite loosing most of them!

Nadal will have his usual Hewitt training (4x in 5 years!), given
Hewitt had a 5 setter today.

Few words about the Rezai / Petrova match:
extraordinary!
both had multiple match points (all of them on the Petrova'serve,
iirc), and the match was stopped because of low light, seven games
each!

Will she be dressed like that in the stadium?

would be a riot, I guess!
Viktor has "captured" the most beatiful grilfriend I've ever seen for
a tennisman.
I remembered having seen a really nice of the couple, I google few
seconds to find it, but failed.
Among the pics found, I picked this... anyone wondering why? :-)

I'd love to see Cilic beat Soderling. I really like Cilic but he's too
unpredictable to reliably root for. I didn't see the match, but the
scoreline says he had his hands full with Mayer.

Yes, so far only Monfils and Gonzalez have been big scalps allowing
Wawrinka and probably Almagro from outside the Top 16 to be in the R16.
And they are the 19th and 20th seeds.

++ You have to think there's a big upset somewhere in there... or the
level of a Verdasco losing :))

Some of those straight clean lines to inevitable match ups have to hit
a rough road, you would think... how about Roddick taking out Ferrer?
He looking really good, for him on clay this time around... from what
I have seen of him... I haven't seen Berdych play yet, but the scores
are getting/trending impressive/ly... will SOMEONE give Rafa a game,
before a final (or in the final) :))))

Hope you are happy now. Qualifier Gabashvili crushed #6 seed Roddick in
straight sets hitting 58 winners to Roddick's 14 winners, a ratio of
more than 4 to 1.

Is Melzer-Ferrer the next upset in the making?
Melzer up 64 60 and on serve at 55.

Yes. I think this is a much bigger upset than the Roddick result.

Ferrer came in having won more matches on clay this year than anyone else.

Melzer took him apart with an well executed attacking game plan.

How about both going out before they would have met? Roddick is
notmuch of a surprise, he always loses around this stage at the
latest. Maybe a bit surprising that he lost so easily to Gabashvili.
But Ferrer going out is a big surprise.

Melzer was spot on. I caught some of the match and good attacking tennis
from Melzer had Ferrer reeling. Ferrer doesn't have a big serve to pull
him out of tough spots and had no way to counter Melzer's attacks.
