Nadal is attacking short balls against Ferrer today and coming in more
than usual. Good move, and if he continues playing like this, his
normally lethal clay game will become über-lethal.

Yes, I have noticed he has become a little more aggressive (starting
at the AO 2012) which is what he must continue to do if he wants to
have a chance at Djokovic.

Nadal and Ferrer matches have to be the most boring matches on earth.
How can people find their matches interesting? Zzzzzzzz. Bring on
Roger at Madrid!

Yes, I speak fluent German. I married a German and lived in Munich for
a couple of years. But "über" isn't indicative of being a German
speaker, you know of course it's used in English all the time as well.
I think Max is the only German-born poster here.

Back to the match-- Ferrer is such a choker. 5 set points and he
pisses them all away. What a pansy.

And Courty, you're right. This is a God-awful match. Slow-paced,
boring. I'm watching to check out Nadal's form, which is still good
enough to beat an inspired Da-VEED. If Ferrer would come to the net to
finish off sitters, he would have won the first set.

Oh my God Ferrer! And people question that the top ten are a bunch of
clowns below the top three? Ferrer had the first set in the palm of
his hands and what did he do, he rolled over for his master Nadal to
lose the first set. Ferrer is a pillar of strength against any player
lower on the totem pole than he is, but when he plays the top 3 or 4,
he becomes Casper the Friendly Ghost.

I did not know this, thanks for that. I thought it would be "over-
lethal" (though I do know English sometimes uses German words like in
Kindergarden ...).

And Bayern hater, too.

I believe Manuel is German, too.

Yes, Ferrer is a choke. He had the first set on his racquet and gifted
it to Nadal. Though you must say Nadal made unusually more UE's than
else.

Ferrer had a golden opportunity to win this match. Rafa was hitting
his FH wide more than usual and Ferrer predictably choked on all the
big points. How pathetic is it that David squanders 5 BP's (some of
them sitters) and then tamely goes down like a panty waist in the TB?

Ferrer played well, Rafa not so well (for him), but Ferrer is just a
massive choker and that's all there is to it.

The outcome of this match wouldn't be in doubt even had David won the
first set. I don't care if he was up 7-6, 5-2, 40-0 up... Rafa would
still charge back and beat him. I seriously believe that (and I think,
so does Ferrer!)

Ferrer was rock solid, well except few important points when it was Rafa
being rock solid.

Rafa mainly just hit fh winners on breakpoints, raised his level a lot
when it mattered most.

you could tell Ferrer was putting in a huge effort, because of that
grunt he made when he went for the smash on his penultimate game. The
one where Nadal guessed the right way and then won the ponit.

Yep. Then we have to tolerate 'Rafa is not talented' tripe from fengly.

No one said he wasn't talented, coward. Just that he's not especially
talented but his "enhanced" physique helps him compensate. Sorry if
that clashes with your new casting of Rafa as the Second Coming.
