Does anyone know of table tennis balls that are quieter than the standard
balls ?

It does not have to meet standard, but similar size and weight. Maybe rubber
instead of plastic.

I like to practice in the rec room, but my wife complaints that I make too
much noise ! The high-pitch ping is annoying.

Thanks,

Are you using a hardbat? Hardbats make more sound, and in fact that is
one of the things many of us like about them. Switch to sponge, and you'll
cut out half of the sound right there (don't do it!, don't do it!). :)

Beyond that, hmmm, the real super-cheap 0-star balls that are extremely
light seem a bit quieter...

Best suggestion: Get her to play too!

put better sound proof insulation padding in the walls, there is no way
you can get
quiter balls. check the gaps between the doors and floor seal them.

sorry pedro, no such balls have been invented yet. However, there HAVE been
reports of wives who have the ability to deal with a little bit of noise. Some
of these mysterious women have been known to go out for a walk for an hour, or
go shopping, or put on a pair of headphones. In EXTREME circumstances, these
wives have actually been known to join in the fun with their husbands, learn
the sport, and become a practice partner. My advice is for you to try and
convert your current wife to one of these other types of wives.

Ha! Isn't that the truth! I came out of retirement to play in the PA
State Championships in Middletown. Of course, I went with my
hardbat. I started to warm up and there was a reaction from
EVERYONE around. Are you using a hardbat? What are you using?
Why are you using it?

Everyone knew as soon as they heard.... I never fielded so many
questions in my life.

But boy, did I have fun!
