Is anyone interested in playing in a foosball tournament, in the northeastern
ohio area, sometime before the world championships? Maybe a couple thousand in
prize money...

Hey Taafe
Straighten your boy Buck out for me, and show him your still the man in
Youngstown, or I'll have to pack up the pinto and head on down for his
yearly reality check with my boy Moeller. If he had your talent I would'nt
mind him running his mouth so much, but come on this is crissy buck were
talking about.

P.S. If you have never been to Brian's place It's a great place for
tournament's I would recomend it to anyone. He does a good job running the
event's and even supplies a local pro (crissy buck) to play against, that
you up and coming rookie's can beat on a consistent basis to build your
confidence for the world's. Now you can't beat that.

Well Eric, there is nothing I can do about Super Buck, as you know his words
and his actions speak for themself. I can however provide a place for you and
him to play against eachother. Maybe a race to 10 games, you guys put up $100
and I'll match it with a $100. $200 winner take all. What do you think of
that? I for one believe that the only way to solve these little disagreements
is simply to play the other person and if one backs down then you have your
answer.... =) Bryan

Tell you what...in order to get your best playing ability, lets just you and I
put the $100.00, Bryan matches $100.00...otherwise you will be tired from
pounding Deadman Pullshots on Buck for a 1/2 hour, and I would want your best

Or, I will play the winner, whichever...I just know that $100.00 gamble to win
$300.00 is better odds than I get in Vegas...Hell, I think I have a better
chance at beating either of you, than I do "the house" in Vegas...

Well I don't have a problem with setting something up for the fall Eric,
besides that will give Buck some more time to practice. I'll ask him tomorrow
if he is up for the challenge since he might not have read the post. As for
you Pat.....C'mon down well up I should say. Super buck wouldn't mind getting
you on the table. I'm sure I've overheard him say once or twice that he could
whoop ya. Maybe if we get enough people together that want to challenge buck we
can turn this into a "skins" foosball competition. I'll ask buck for
suggestions.... To be continued.....

Brian Tankersly has a 2nd child on the way. He probably won't be able to play
for awhile. Alan Hopkins doesn't play all that musch anymore. Ha has come to a
BYP or 2 in the past year, but he is a rarity these days. Shame too. He is a
good player.

There are also many other players better than Buck. While he is a tough player
at times, he is a little inconsistent with his game. I can't believe no one has
mentioned Keith Mauer. Probably one of Ohio's best.

Tell Brian, Beth, and Alan, Eric Trombley from MI said hello, and

alot of shit trying to take u out of your game while he hack's and beg's for

game here or there, but there's not enough talent there to keep it going
over the long haul unless someone's carrying his fat ass. And dont get me

I told Taafe that I am the best player, outside of Todd and Steve, in the
Northeast period. Even with my inconsistent three bar I am still the 3rd best
player this side of Chicago! I have a better record against any players East
of Terry Moore and North of Rick Macias except for Todd and Steve. All
others bring it on, because your just going to leave with a LOSS in your mind
and an emptiness in your pocketbook!
Eric, as for Alan and "Flying Brian" they could not even beat me when I
had a total Rookie playing back against them! Taafe just lost to me AGAIN,
last night with me shooting a roll-over on him! The only time I lose to Jeff
is when I am trying to practice something new (that's always a 4-5 loss).
Keith Maurer hasn't beaten me in YEARS, in singles, not even in pick-up games!

The TOP players are as follows (in OH, MI, NY, IN, PA, VA, MD and WV
1. Todd Loffredo (OH)
2. Steve Beine (OH)
3. Chris Buck (OH)
4. Bryan Taafe (OH-unpracticed)
5. John Von Swarz (OH-semi-retired)
6. Eric Hill (WV-he beat DC first round at the Nationals)
7. Dennis Claroni (PA)
8. Greg Mendel (NY-even thou he doesn't play any more)
9. Ken Phipps (OH-semi-retired)
10. Greg Pulliam (IN)
Those are the Top Ten!!!

Those receiving Honorable Mention is as follows:
Paul Reynolds (retired), John Merkel, Brian Hunt, Mike Miletti, John Wren
(retired), Joe Seamon, Frank Garbuglio (retired), Mark Vennitti (retired),
Keith Maurer, Kevin Westcott, Mike Churchfield, Rick Moeller, Maggie Strong,
Ted Saum, Art Miller, Scott Ramsey (retired), Jim McKenney, Dusty Bambenek,
Caryn and Michael Matassa, Amy Powers, Mike Pascarella (retired), Kyle Stall,
Vince Ramirez, Pat Myers, Chris Irish, Kelly Clarioni (semi-retired), Lisa
Pride, Lindsey DiehlSteve Shove, Gary and Sue Johnston, Don Johnson and many
others that I'm running out of room to write!

Hmmmmmm.... this sounds interesting for the northeast !! And just by
coincidence, there happens to be an arena all set up in Buffalo a few weeks
from now to settle this out. And if you should get trounced in any of the
other events, there's always the SMACKDOWN event to claim your throne (and
money, and prizes, and trophies !) Entry fees are LOW, payouts could be higher
than advertised due to sponsorships and good turnout, AND a few locals are
offering their home for overnight accomodations (better jump on those ASAP,
room will be running out).
Dennis Claroni.... he'll be there.
Billy Pappas..... he'll be there.
Danny Terra.... Yore says he'll be there.
The Yore Meister....says he just might make the leap from Atlanta.(MUST avenge
THREE straight 5-0 losses against Gary Johnston)
Kevin Skalstis.... still waiting to hear for sure, but very interested....
chances should be good. ( he KNOWS competetion is good here :))
Buck.... says he's planning on it.
JVS... gonna try real hard.
Mike Churchfield.... silent, but deadly... he'll be there.
Brian Hunt & Art Miller.... totally interested... will know soon for sure.
Dusty and Keith Mauer... another strong interest... still waiting for RSVP.
Tony Rosa... non-touring... but VERY tough... he'll be there.
Brian Gustavel....his game has accelerated exponentially.... he'll be there.
Kevin Westcott.... he'll be there
Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton... all of their best will be there. Canada,
Arizona, New Hampshire, Maryland as well. And,of course, the best of Buffalo
!!!
Looks like the perfect place and time to settle this out :))
Stay tuned for more confirmed RSVPs !!

Does this make me one of the ten best players in OH since I have put Kenny
Phipps out in the last 3 outings I have faced him? ;-)

On the serious side, I also think Greg Pullium should be moved WAY up on the
list. I do believe he is rated Pro on tour and he is a great player. Also I
think his partner Randy Secrest should be on the list (Pro from Dayton).

I also noticed no players from Kentucky are not listed here. I know that you
are keeping to the Northeast, but Lexington and Lousiville are fairly close to
Cincy and honestly should be included. I think Danny Casey (Pro Master) would
slaughter some of the players mentioned on the list above with the exception of
Todd and Steve.

But honestly, I don't really think you could have a top ten in this area as any
of these players can win at any given time.

Billy,

Since you include MASS you should include Philbrook, and RI....ME!

Just for the record I can beat any player on the list. Any player on the
list could probably beat me. But let's get real here. Todd is not only the
best in Ohio, he is the best EVER. Yes better than Terry, and Frederico.
Does he win the most right now? No. Is he the most consistent right now?
Again no. I do think if Todd were substantially motivated he would be both.

The rest of the list:
I have played or seen all of the players on Buck's list, and Billy's list.
After Todd, Beine is definitely the best. Frank Garbuglio would have to be
on any top 10 list in the Northeast. I saw that guy play when he was
touring and he was good! Also, if we include retired players or
semi-retired players we have to include Tim Alberts (Fuji). Although his
game was not always pretty, he always a way to kill you, and he was a
monster in singles. Another great player that has not been mentioned is
Nino DiJohn from Albany. In the late eighties and early nineties Nino, and
Fuji were the two players that dominated tournaments in the Northeast.
Frank Garbuglio, and Steve Beine, were the only other Northeast players that
threatened them.

To accurately put together a top 10 list is impossible. Of the names
mentioned there are very few that I would not think that I stood a better
chance against than they stood against me. And yes I will lay money on it.

I make no claims to my skill lvl compared to anyone else, but want to make a
few corrections.
First let me preface this by saying that I know Chris Buck pretty well and
do not believe he is lying so am referring to them as untruths not lies :)
Chris I hope all your bashing of others on this forum is in fun cuz most of
it seams rather rude and have a hard time believing you could even be a
little serious.

"Keith Maurer hasn't beaten me in YEARS, in singles, not even in pick-up
games!"

I did play you once in a pick up game in Atlanta and you did beat me there
but at least the last 5 times I can remember us playing singles in pick up
games I won them all but the one in Atlanta.
and to the best of my recollection you have never beaten me in singles in a
tourney, now remember that I haven't played you in competition singles in
years (I quit playing singles a few years ago) and you have defiantly
improved a good bit in that time.

I have also seen you post that you have never been double dipped.
I at least know that is also an untruth as Dusty and I have DD you once, not
in a huge tourney but for a few hundred dollars.

Now as to where you are ranking everyone, it means nothing, all that matters
is results.

Keith Maurer

P.S. To Ronnie Garrett and Eric Trombley I would like to thank you for the
compliments and to say that you both have extremely good games :)

Well... I was hoping to go to Buffalo on July 27, 28.. but I don't think
that's going to happen as I am moving into a new place that weekend.
It's a shame, cause I was hoping to see some people there that I didn't
get to see in ATL.. like Gary Johnston and Danny Terra (I don't really
know him, I just like watching his game...)

Most likely, the next tour event I will be in is Vegas in March... but
that's just cause I'm going back to school. But hey.. at least the Vegas
trip will be free...well.. assuming Merv does the smart thing :)

It is a shame you didn't show me more about zones while we were down
there, but after watching Louis play Terry, I've tried adopting his
zone.. I'm still working a few kinks out of it, but I'm sure... almost
POSITIVE that if I had used it in any event really, it would have led to
at least one more win in each.

Hope to see you sooner than later..

I have a proposition for Chris Buck:

I will put $20 on Keith at the next tournament that all three of us attend
in a 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 5 (you two decide). This is provided Keith is
ok with this. I agree with Keith that Chris has improved over the last few
years, but I would have to give the nod to Keith in overall foosball skills.

Hey Merv,

Yeah I played singles in the league in Vegas but I someone signed me up to
play I didnt want to.
I may have done ok but it was mostly luck. The reason I havnt played in
singles in such a long time is it frustrates me so much that I quit trying
or forfet out tho it seams I still win without trying sometimes.
I also played in 3 singles events the last time i went to KY (a few months
ago) another one where someone signed me up:) I forfeited out of them all,
although I won every match. hehe

Not sure about Buffalo yet have to see what my Partner Dusty thinks.

Pat,

Let me know when the next Youngstown tourney is and I'll take you up on that.
Sorry you won't be going to KY State, it would be nice to see you after, what
15 years or more. I might be making some trips to Columbus before Worlds to
play against Beine and Swan, maybe we can hook up then.

Billy,

I'm going to fly. Unlike you, I'm too old to drive that far and be able to
play. Is Danny going?

Pat just bring on Frankie too, becuase he can't beat me either. I played
with him a few months ago he is still a good player but I know I can beat him.

Hey Billy,

If you can get incontact with Philbrook for me that'd be a big help.

I don't think I'll be making KY this time around...can't find a cheap enough
flight.

I told him I'd play with him in Expert Doubles if I went but, it doesn't look
good.

Anyways...talk to ya later,

Brandon

>Ok, if I am correct here this is "passing Keith"?

LOL...yeah its ``Passin Keith``

Very good player on and off the table...have never heard a bad thing come out
of his mouth...either winning or losing...a class act!!!!!

Even though he does win alot up north!!!

Hope to get your game on the table in Ky.

P.S. Kevin....you need work on that weak
``Alien`` shot of yours.......can`t even score that on a weak rookie that
does`nt even play goalie

You are right Wes. Apparently my alien is not good enough to score on you.
Good thing ALL my other shots are! :-)

See you in KY Wes. I try to work on that alien in the mean time. LOL

Thats a shame,he taught me how to shoot a pull shot!In the day
,frankie was a bad man.I saw him and Rick miller get chased by a guy
with a gun in a tourney in Indy! Anybody remember sahbi sahbkin? He
was crazy! Frank blasted a long pull on him and the guy freaked out!

Does he play anymore at all?

Scott,

That was funny (after it was all over) people were hitting the deck all over,
diving under foosball tables, pool tables and hitting every exit in sight. If
you remember he chased Frank all the way around the building, and it was a big
building. That happened at Good Time Charlies in Indy. That was a great place
to play. He ended up beating Frank & Ko, then I had to play him in the finals.

I first met Sahbi at a tournament in Dayton in 77'. He always snapped like
that, although that was the first time I actually saw him get his gun.. I asked
Beine a few months ago if he was still around, and he thought Sahbi had gone
back to Sieria.

Ahh, the good old days.

Are you going to be at Ky State? Since it is in your home town. I plan on
getting in early friday evening. Hope to see you there.

Billy Boy,

I do not believe my Asian Posse or myself will be attending Kentucky and I will
not be going to Worlds due to prior commitment with my Children. The only sad
thing about not attending Worlds would not seeing Dave G playing for the last
time!!

My next Tourny will be Texas State with Trevor and then going to Vegas and off
to Foosball Retirement!

Good luck at Worlds Billy Boy!

This post was just way to good LOL. I won't dog on Buck to bad since I
made his top ten list :) Although Isn't Skaltsis, Terra, Pappas,
Philbrooke Santamassimo, and many others from the NW region? I dont mind
being #6 on your list Chris but I dont think I am nowhere near diserving
that by any means. I think we should let Buck do the seatings at worlds
:) I should at least be in the top twenty diserving it or not. Hope this
doesnt drop me offf the top ten list for writing this post; that would
just break my heart :(
