INDEPENDENT FOOSBALL PROMOTIONS (IFP) ANNOUNCES
THE $12,000 LOUISIANA STATE FOOSBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lafayette, Louisiana – Top athletes from all across the United States
are preparing to compete in an unusual, unique sports competition: the
Independent Foosball Promotions Louisiana State Foosball
Championships. To be held August 24-26th at the Holiday Inn Holidome
in Lafayette, LA, this event is expected to draw over 200 table soccer
(a.k.a. "foosball") enthusiasts and professionals, including several
members of the U.S. National Team.
Now recognized as an International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF)
Pro Tour Series event, the tournament has even been elevated to
international tour status. This means the competition is likely to
draw match-ups between players such as USA #1-ranked Billy Pappas of
Lowell, MA, hometown favorite Terry Rue, and Houston’s Tracy McMillin
(hot off a recent Open Doubles first place at the Kentucky State
Championships just three weeks ago). Women’s competition will feature
some of the best in the world as well, with noted champions Gena
Murray of Ft. Worth (TX), Dusty Bambenek of Canal Fulton (OH) and
Tiffany Moore (IL) leading the field.
At the Master level, players are competing not just for $12,000 in
cash and prizes at the event, but also for qualifying points to
compete at the ITSF World Championship Finals in St. Vincent, Italy
this coming October. And, with many Masters playing exceptionally
strong after foosball’s recent U.S. Open and Hall of Fame Classic
tournaments in Atlanta and Las Vegas, respectively, the matches at
Louisiana State should be extremely intense!
Opening events begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24th,with
most finals matches to be held on Sunday the 26th. The tournament is
open to all press and spectators, and there is no admission fee to
enter the tournament area. Competition will include numerous
categories for men and women from beginner to Master, and specialty
events such as “Draw Your Partner Doubles” and “Forward Shootout.”
This year’s tournament will also include Junior categories, including
both 17 & Under and 12 & Under doubles and singles events. Players of
every skill level can register for events on site, and all competition
will take place on more than 30 individually lighted Tornado Table
Soccer™ tables made by the Valley-Dynamo division of Brunswick.
Sponsors of the event include Independent Foosball Promotions and
the Holiday Inn Holidome (2032 NE Evangeline Thruway, Lafayette, LA;
tel: 1-337-233-6815 for reservations), while sponsors of the U.S.
National Team include Brunswick’s Tornado Table Soccer™, Borden Milk

have been competing in further ITSF tournaments in Austria, Costa
Rica, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Romania, South
Africa and the UK, among others. In fact, this year’s 60-tournament,
