Questions:
Is there a way to make straps last longer?
Is there something that makes the rubber rot faster?
How often do you go through goggles?
Thanks for any help,
Bob
This happened to me with an expensive pair of TYR goggles and I went to the
shop where I bought them and they ordered me a new strap and gave it to me for
free.
I think the chlorine makes them rot and I don't know of any way to prevent it.

Wash them after use.
Dry.
Rub talcum powder into the strap.
Inspect periodically, it may save you problems on race day.
This will not make them last forever but may well extend their life.

Thanks for all of the responses.
I was able to pick up some extra straps for a buck each.
Now that I think of it, these things might be like wetsuits. To make my
wetsuits last longer I dry them, keep them away from new oxygen (plastic bag)
and away from unneccesary UV(black plastic bag out of light).
I may start doing the same with my goggles along with the other suggestions.
Bob
Rinsing them in the shower or under tap water after each use
substantially prolongs their lifetime.

If you are really carefull with your goggles (and have the time for it)
after rinsing them with tap water (without the Clorine from the pool) try
put some baby powder in the rubers (strap and eye strap).
By doing so you'll be able to have a +2 year strap with no problems.
If you are swimming for a while (one month or more) separate the straps from
the lents, since it can stiffen near the contacts points and break.
