In recent matches, I've played several opponents who make frequent
contact with me
as I'm moving for a play and while the contact is not flagrant, it is
enough
to throw off my concentration. The contact has ranged from being nudged
on my
shoulder as I'm preparing my racquet to being bumped and momentarily
winded
by an opponent. Whenever I request a let, it seems the person refereeing
doesn't
know what contact i'm talking about (their eyes being glued to the ball)
or doesn't consider it
sufficient grounds for a let. I don't even bother to ask anymore because
it seems
to give the impression that I just like to complain. Any ideas?

Hi AH
Difficult one this!
Do you USUALLY bump into MOST people? If so, perhaps you should check your
court movement - this is available FREE from http://how.to/playsquash.
If it is the other way around and rarer rather than the norm, then your
opponent is probably moving incorrectly. If this is the case then you have
two options in friendlies:-
(1) You enjoy the game enough to take the knocks and keep playing these
fellows.
(2) Or you don't, and you stop playing them.
If the games are refereed then:-
(1) If the interference was due to illegal or no movement - stroke to you.
(2) If the interference occurred while your opponent was making every
effort to get out of the way and (a) you could have got to the ball - let
(b) you couldn't have got to the ball - no let.

There is a little more emphasis these days on the striker making some effort
to run around the opponent
