OK, you both have selected your footballer. Jesus asks first. Let me repeat
the rules... Please read them, because they'll be strictly enforced.

The object of the game is to be the first to determine which footballer
one's opponent has selected.

Players alternate asking various yes or no questions (such that the answer
is objectively verifiable) to eliminate candidates:
- Questions about series of numbers or letters (i.e. including words such as
"higher" "lower" "between" etc.) won't be allowed (e.g. "was he born before
1985?").
- Questions including the word "or" won't be allowed (e.g. "is he either
from Brazil, Italy or Germany?").

When you're ready to guess who the Mystery Player is, make your guess on
your turn, instead of asking a question (both "I guess that the player is X"
and "is the player X?" are considered guessing). If your guess is right, you
win the game. If it's wrong, you lose. But if the second player guesses
correctly just after the first player, it's a draw.

By the way, I think it could be a good idea to keep track of the number
of guesses taken by each player. It could be used as a tiebreaker.

What to do about losing players? Should they keep on playing until they
guess, or should one just say that it took them N_opp + 1 guesses to
reach the correct answer?

This would mean 1970, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79... a series of
numbers?

I wasn't sure if it was legit or not, so I asked it right back...

Oh, OK. It was established in one of the previous threads that "the 70s"
(the 80s, the 90s, etc.) are a well defined concept that does not fit
the definition of "a series of numbers."

Milivella had disallowed a similar question by me in the previous game, but reconsidered it afterwards, so I felt it was OK to use it again. Well played, great game, and a fast one too!

Great idea. Wouldn't a tiebreaker match (or tournament) be more

I played a board game similar to "Guess Who", which scoring system is
entirely based on the number of questions asked (actually, number of read
clues).

Each round, one player draws a card with the mystery person/location/object
and 20 clues. The other players then take turns asking for a clue and making
guesses. When a player guesses correctly, they get X points, where X is the
number of remaining unread clues. If all clues are read, and nobody has
guessed correctly, the player reading the clues gets the full 20 points.

If number of questions start to matter, I'd let them play until they guess
correctly. Each match could have a score, like 4-7, instead of just W-L.
