Last week's distribution brought a lot of responses and updates. As usual, I
credit the source for detailed information. I'd also like to thank
SOCCERSCOUT, Mark Crinklaw, Eric Vormelker for their contributions.

Also, can anyone confirm SA's information about Deering, Doyle and Woodring?
There's seems to be some amount of doubt about the present status of these
three players. Ken Gilbert seems to feel that SA was indicating that these
players *had* played in the 1 Bundesliga in the past, not that they were
playing there now. Does everyone else read it that way? Thanks.

Mike Ammann G Charlton Athletic (1st div)
(Tom Fragala gave me a very good explanation of why it was easier for
Mike Ammann to get a work permit. He says, "The reason marrying an
Italian lets him play/work in England is because Great Britain is a
member of the EC as is Italy and citizens of EC countrie can move
within and work freely in other EC countries. So, either he
qualified as an Italian citizen because his wife is Italian or there
is a special case for spouses of EC citizens. I suspect that he
became a dual US/Italian citizen and then received an Italian passport
which would serve as the necessary papers to allow him to work with no
trouble in England.")

Frank Klopas F Apollon Athens AEK Athens
According to Greek newspapers, Frank has signed a 1.5 year contract=
(i.e.
for the remainder of the 1994-95 season, plus the whole of 1995-96),=
with
First Division club Apollon Athens. Apollon (named after the ancient=
god)
are a historic club (since the 20s) but with little means and support. =
They
are usually a mid-table team, with the occasional flirt with relegation=
and
the odd spell in Division Two. They have a tradition of producing good
young players that are usually snapped up by the big clubs. This is
Apollon's main source of income. They play at the Rizoupoli Stadium, in=
the
northern suburbs of Athens. (Source: Costas Tsioras/RSS)

Ireland,
Premier Division (on loan)
Update on American Nick Broujos playing in Rep of Ireland. (2/8/95)
(Information courtesy of Dale Dermott who's wife is Nick's cousin.)

Nick grew up in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and played his college soccer in=
the
States. An Irish scout/coach spotted him and encouraged him to play in
Ireland, which he did after graduating from college. For the first few
years, he returned during the offseason to play for the Maryland Bays.

Currently living in Sligo (west coast of Ireland), he plays for the=
Sligo
Rovers in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland. During the=
past
ten years, Nick has played for several teams in that league while=
grwoing to
love the Irish lifestyle. Last year, Sligo loaned him out to play for
Cliftonville of the Irish League (Northern Ireland).

In December 1994, Nick "Rambo" Broujos became a dual citizen of the=
United
States and Ireland. And on June 3, he plans to marry his fiancee,=
Fiona,
and continue playing for Sligo while also serving as the club's business
manager.
