Yet another person spuing out his guts, about matters he don't have the
slightest knowledge about.
And we wonder why there is so many wars going on in this world?

I'd say that that was as compelling a case that could be made for not letting
mentally retarded people on the Internet. I mean, I dig hoops, but really...

Soccer requires athletes, not height, athletes. There are maybe 2 or
three NBA players that could be qualifyied as "great athletes". The NBA
should be called the "National Business ASSociation" because basketball
is all about money. Any sport that can have a dumber-than-dirt inner
city kid that just happens to be 7'0 make $20 million a year is not the
sport for me. Basketball can never be a true international sport until
somebody can actually come up with a decent national team worthy of
playing the US.

YEah, basketball scoring is so stupid even a total fool can score.
What kind of challenge is that?

>

They play infront of crowds of 50 or 80 thousand. The highest
bakletball crowds are 22 thousand maybe? Thats cause no one cares
about basketball.

Whats aesthetic about a bunch of genetic freaks going to shoot free
throws any time the are toiuched? Why are basketball players such
sissies that anytime they get slapped or some guy looks at another guy
funny there is a foul called? SISSIES

Drying paint is more exciting than basketball.

How stupid are basketball people? So supid that it takes them 30
minutes to play the last 2 minutes of a game. Cant they read a watch?

It's worth it as much as any recreational activity. More than some, because
writing is a fairly worthwhile activity. You see, when you write on a fairly
regular basis, you tend to expand your vocabulary, and your able to express yourself
in a clear and insightful manner. It helps you avoid using terms like "that soccer
thing."

> First of all if you have been working on something useful for world , the

So, your argument is that soccer produces beer drinking and "ugly speaking"
guys? I suppose basketball is the game of intellectuals and scientists? Just
because most of the players in the NBA went to college, that doesn't mean they went
to classes. By the way, the next time you call someone else stupid, you might want
to use a sentence that approaches being gramatically correct.

> Secondly I offer you all to watch basketball and see cleverness ,
> attractiveness , speed , creativeness , power and passion .

Soccer offers all that, in a different way than basketball. In fact, as a
whole, there may be more creativity and speed in soccer. 80% of the time in the
NBA, the game is played in the half-court set, and a team will bleed the 24 second
clock down to 10 before anyone starts to do anything. And then, the play is usually
to clear out an entire side of the floor, and let one player go one-on-one against
his defender. I'm sorry, unless your watching Jordan, 40 Iso plays a game is not
exciting.

> 1 ) Soccer players are generally look like damned dwarfs when compared to a
> basketball player .

Soccer is a game for the common man, as opposed to the genetic freaks tha
play in the NBA. You don't have to be 6-6 to play soccer.

> 2 ) Soccer is a so ugly sport that 22 dwarfs run stupidly around a ball.
> However in basketball everything done ,every action taken is in an order and

I wouldn't say EVERY action "is in an order and belong to a tactic."
Besides, what is your argument, here? I thought you said basketball was better than
soccer in terms of creativity. It doesn't sound very creative if all the plays are
scripted.
Besides, just because you don't understand soccer, that doesn't mean there
aren't tactics. If you'd watch a game, you'd realize this. A player many make a
run off the ball to open up space in a certain area. Or a team may play the ball to
the corner in order to cross the ball into the area. Is that a play? Not really -
but it is a tactic. I'm not even talking about the set pieces that most coaches
come up with.

> 3 ) Although the distance between the posts are so long the scores can not
> exceed 8 or 9 goals , but the basketball scores sum is at least be a hundred

I suppose a game where you score every time is more exciting than a game
where it's hard to score? Competition creates excitement, not incessant scoring.
Besides, scoring is WAY down in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls scored 49 points in a
game this year. Why? Because the NBA stinks. There isn't one team in the league
that would have made the playoffs if they played 15 years ago.

> 4 ) Also soccer is a dirty sport they play in mud . ( like pigs )

Don't most outdoor sports play in mud?

> 5 ) Even the stupidests of you can understand the unaestheticness of soccer

Is "stupidests" a word? Is "unaestheticness" a word? And you think we're
stupidests?

> 6 ) You know even chess is more exciting than soccer

Yeah, nothing is more exciting thatn watching the last 30 seconds of a
basketball game. Of course, I have to clear a couple of hours in my schedule to
watch those 30 seconds, but boy, is it ever worth it.

Selim Sandi is a poor soul who deserves my sympathy. Obviously he has not
grown up with a soccer ball. Therefore the passion and soul of the
greatest game on earth has not entered his veins. I feel very sorry for
him as he will never experience the spirit of this wonderful game.

I like to ask all of you in this NG: Please be kind to him as he knows no
different.

Very sad indeed. :-( :-( :-(

The truth: people who say they hate soccer realise how popular it is and are
pissed off about it. It's like that here. People will take every opportunity
they can to hang shit on it, even though they have absolutely no idea what
so ever about the game. I've basically given up trying to convince some
people in Australia why soccer is such a geat sport.

To be honest though, I think we're all sick and tired of having to
constantly defend soccer from simple minded, moronic fuck-wits like yourself
Selim.

As someone who has played both soccer and basketball, I would have to say
that your argument may have stood up a little better 6 years ago. Since then
though, everyone (outside America at least) has turned off basketball. I
remember during my first few years of high-school how big basketball had
suddenly become. People were saying that it wasn't long before it took over
from soccer as the world's most popular sport. Everyone was playing, kids
were starting to play all over the country, and merchandise sales (NBA in
particular) were soaring.
Then what happened? Suddenly the fad was disappearing. People got bored
with the sport. People got sick of seeing a bunch of guys running up and
down a court. Things like slam dunks, and alley-oops weren't "cool" any
more. People suddenly realised how shit it was.
Basketball was and always will be a very shallow and inaccessible sport.
Small children find it difficult to play because of the height factor
involved, and it's really a sport custom made for giants. There is really
only so little you can do on such a confined playing area, and once you've
seen one play in basketball you've virtually seen them all. Soccer's appeal
stems from the fact that it essentially such a natural sport to play. As a
spectator sport it is unlike any other game in the world. The raw tension,
passion and emotion involved in a game of soccer has to be experienced to
truly understand it.

Selim, I find it truly amazing that you would go out of your way to go into
a soccer newsgroup just to post a message trashing the sport. Like I said
before, I think you're one one these people who can't bring themselves to
realise that there is a sport more popular than the one they love. Your
perseverance at least, to what is such a worthless cause, should be
congratulated.

Hello Giuseppe,

He's a fucking moron, but I like to watch a genius in any sport. There are
genius type players in all sports.

I can enjoy watching those special players in any sport. Players with great
skill and most importantly players with vision.

Soccer is better then most sports, because the genius player can be anyone of
the 22 from both teams when any of them has the ball.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this....soccer is the most
flexible sport, positionally, in the world. Only 1 player out of 11 (the
keeper) is really restricted, and we've even seen some keepers doing amazing
things in the past. No doubt this is the key to football's popularity as a
sport to be played and watched....any player, at any time, can become a
hero.
