that Spain could send a Spain A and a Spain B team to the World Cup
right now and win it with any of them. If things don't change much
(injuries) from here to summer I like Espana's cahnces the best. It is
the best team because they play like a football club not a national
team.

They are among the favorites for sure. Now, in World Cup, things
happen, and you can end up out in the first round or quickly in the
1/4 final, just like that. 1 crappy game, one case of bad luck ...

I agree they are really good. And I hope they have a great World Cup,
it's long overdue.

Spain are excellent but I don't see how anyone could bet against Brazil at
this point.

How many teams could Brazil assemble with the potential to win the
World Cup?
I can't help but think of Argentina's 2002 team. In the lead up they
were big favorites and
had many on-form players but how far did they make it in that one?
Decent troll but I think we've all seen/heard it before.

Funny thing is heading *into* the World Cups, 2002 and 1994 teams were
probably weaker on paper than the 06, 90 and 98 teams (even though
they reached the finals IMO, they were at least played even by quiet a
few teams - the Danes, Holland - really they had a good hiding coming,
which they got in the final).

This time looks like they're being talked about as favorites, will be
interesting to see if the pattern holds.

Over rated team. They took out Italy in the Euros by penalty kicks. An
Italy team who was not prepared for the Euros with a crappy coach to
boot. Spain will once again flop in the World Cup.

Reading this thread, you'd almost think there was no such place as
Brazil.

The injuries bit tells you why they couldn't field a B team.

Spain suffered on that South African Mickey Mouse Cup mostly because
there couldn't field Iniesta and Senna.

Iniesta will probably be OK for the summer but Senna is gone, and no
one-for-one replacement is available.

There's still a whole season ahead, but the likes of Ramos and Puyol
are starting to look suspect at times, and that can kill any team in
the knockout stages.

Still Euro favourites for the title but a WC is still a WC.

I think the current Spain team is about 30% stronger than the
undefeated team that won Euro08. The inclusion in the team of players
such as Pique, Navas, Negredo, Busquets or Mata have reinforced the
team in every singlle line. Negredo is about 5000 times better than
Guiza ever was, Navas is one of the best wingers in the world,
Busquets is a solid holding midfielder, Mata is Villa part 2 and Pique
is one of the best central defenders in the world. Not to mention the
absurd huge choice of excellent keepers that Del Bosque can take to
South Africa. Add the experience that the team learned from playing
the Confederations Cup in South Africa and voila.

That's why I think that Spain currently has two very strong squads
capable of winning the WC.

He's gone downhill since euro 2008. Age and injuries are probably to
blame.
