why not Maria Esther Bueno? 5 wimbledon >> 1 roland garros
where is hortencia?
where are basketballers? We won 2 World championships of basketball.
Oscar Schmidt???
Ademar Ferreira da Silva and Joao do Pulo are Brazil's best track and
field athletes ever.
The Grael brothers never won a Gold medal.
Robert Scheidt did, and he is likely to do it again.
Er... As a Spaniard, I guess you cannot complain about Guga's
performance in the Davis Cup. After all, every other time he played in
Spain, Spanish fans made him pay for that. Unless you think that
Spaniard players are not sportsmen too...

Irineu,
Eu sabia que nao devia nem ter tentado fazer isso. Era obvio que eu
ira esqeucer/omitir nomes importantes do esporte nacional. Hortencia,

Irineu, there was and is a fundamental difference between Kuerten's
behavior and Corretja and Moya's. Neither group is directly
responsible for the behavior of their fans, but Kuerten aided and
abetted his torcida's embarrassing behavior, whereas the Spaniards
didn't. (I even remember some quotes from Alex and Carles at the
Godo asking the crowd to take it easy on Guga.)
I'm sure Kuerten is a nice guy in the end, but the Davis Cup
situation overwhelmed him and he did the easy thing, which was to go
along with the crowd. It would have taken a better sportsman than
he to do otherwise.

I don't know what incident this is regarding but Davis Cup matches are
always heated. Remember when Muster walked out of a Davis Cup match a
few years ago?

Benny, that was the same Brasilian torcida that I'm talking about.
I don't recall if Guga was playing at that time, however.
