OK folks,

I have a quick question for you all.

'93 was the first year the Ski-doo Mach 1 changed from the 617 to the
670 Rotax, it was still in the PRS chassis then and with a C-7 rear.
'95 saw it upgrade to the F2000 chassis, hydraulic brakes, flat bars,
still with C-7. '96 saw basically the same sled, right? '97 saw the
intro of the SC-10 rear skid and the 700 triple/triple under the hood.
'98 saw the intro of the CK3 chassis and '99 was essentially the
same. End of Mach 1 story.

My question:

What year did the Mach 1 670 introduce the twin pipes w/44mm Mikunis?
I thought it was in '93, but that wouldn't make any sense since there
would be no need to stretch out this new motor so soon. Then, I
thought it was in '94, but it appears that's not correct either. I
know for a fact that the '95s had twin pipes (in the F2000 chassis)
but I was almost certain that the PRS chassis had a 670 with twin
pipes on it at one point.

Any input, enlightenment, etc. would be appreciated.

Regards,

-Rob

Rob,

I have had a couple Ski-Doo's, and would like to think that I have followed
the Mach 1 history fairly well. 1995 was the first year for the twin pipe on
the 670 engine. Other than that all your info is correct. I had a '95 Mach 1
and that was an awesome sled for its time, with a bullet proof engine.

Cheers,

Hi Rob;

Very good memory on you there :-)
I think the 95 model was the first one with twin pipes, I could easily verify
it if I could put my fingers on my damn brochure from those years. I'm sure
someone will verify for you, but if not, e mail ,me and I will start digging.

95 was the first year for the twins pipes and 44mm carbs. The 92x had the
same motor as the 93-94 mach tons. I had the pleasure of owning a 93 and a
96-good sleds in their day. I wish my 00 xcr 800 was put together as well as
my old machs.

This is and isn't true. The '92X 670 started life as a modified 583. Same
crank journals etc. The later 670 Mach engines were an updated design.
Ski-doo recalled all the original 670s. They replaced them with '93 Mach 1
hardware. They did have twin pipes, and 44s, 501 rotary valve. It was a
similiar setup to the '95.

Well crap! I was hoping for twin pipes and 44mm carbs!

Maybe I'll make the purchase anyways...the stock 670 was still a
strong motor, will make a great donor for my project sled, and I can
manage with the '93 Mach'er for one winter while I save my funds.

The deal is incredible - 1993 Mach 1 with 1,975km, $1200 CAD
negotiable! Ha! I'm going to pay the guy a visit tomorrow evening and
see if I can walk away with it for $900.00 bucks. If I can, she's
mine - regardless of condition.
