What is safe to use to remove the residue left over from my old stickers on
my snowmobile? I want something that won't fade my paint. Any suggestions?

I have used WD-40 with decent results. I just make sure after the residue is
gone, I wash it with soap and water to remove any left over WD-40.

Goof Off, no that is not your wife's pet name for you when you are in the garage
with your sled, it is a real product. Works great. Another thing you already
have in the garage is W-D40. Try it.

WD-40 works out pretty good on that. Wash off the residue and walk the
wax to it. ;-)

I have used acetone in the past with no problems. Make sure you wipe it all
off. Another trick is to use WD40. This removes the glue too.

I worked in a body shop for 5 years and we used a product called
Adhesive remover. The brand we used was by 3M and you can buy it at most
hardware stores or any place that supplies body shops in your area. It
works great!!

We use that stuff at the car dealer I work at. It doesn't harm the
paint on the vehicles when we remove stickers from other dealers
when we receive dealer trades. It works great.

I agree, acetone works great (you may want to dilute it with water, and rinse
with water afterwards).
Contact cement remover works great too!

I use good old WD 40. Spray it on, wait for a bit, and rub it off. Works
well, and will not harm paint or plastic.

I use the goof off or 3M adhesive remover.
A hair dryer also helps.

Lighter Fluid works well, as does WD-40 with a bit more rubbing.

Use WD-40. Just spray it on and wait about 30 sec.

A few drops of baby oil also works good.

Dustbane Products limited has a product called ORANG-A-TANG wich is a multi
purpose cleaner. Dissolves just about anything (tar, glue, oils...). I've
used it sevral times on plastic and never damaged or dulled it. I still
suggest you test it first but the should not be a problem. It's reserved for
comercial use so you wont fing it easely. I suggest a industrial cleaner in
your area or an industrial supply co. in your area.
If i'm not mistaking electrosonic sales it 1-800-56-sonic.

Good ole WD-40 also works well removing sticker goo. It's safe for
most surfaces (used to remove tar on vehicles) just clean after
with mild soap&water and buff up with wax.

Soak a rag or paper towel with WD-40 and hold it on the residue for a few
minutes, then it comes off easy!

I've actually had pretty good luck removing old adhesive from stickers,
price tags, etc. by using a length of "scotch" tape or "duct" tape.
Just tear off a short length of tape, and holding onto one end of it,
repeatedly press it down and lift it off the old sticker residue. The
residue will stick to the "clean" adhesive on the fresh piece of tape
and lift off the surface you're cleaning. As your piece of tape gets
soiled, toss it and continue with another clean piece. Usually, in a
few minutes, you're done. I've used this method to remove all kinds of
residue from all kinds of surfaces. It almost always works, and so far
hasn't caused any damage to the surface.

WD-40 frequently works too, but BE SURE to clean the surface with soap
and water when you're finished. I know from experience that WD-40, if
not removed, will damage some automotive finishes.

Good Luck.

Actually, along with WD-40, you can use lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol. If you
don't have rubbing alcohol, grab that hairspray bottle that's always in your way
in the bathroom, it has enough alcohol to do the trick. Works great for taking
ink off too.
Same as the oil though, make sure you clean the surface with soap and water
afterwards to take off anything left behind.
