I just put on a new Yamaha original belt on my Yamaha Vmax 500 -94 and
noticed that it engages a bit irregular and strange. When I checked the
secondary clutch I noticed that the belt was about 1 mm above the edge
of the clutch, when it should be 0-2 mm under the edge. The manual says
to take away some distance chims.
OK, I'm willing to do that.... but where are these chims ???? I could'nt
find any.

Does anyone know this sled ? Could anyone tell me how to adjust the
clutch.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, the adjustment shims are tiny washers that are on the inside of youre
secondary clutch! You should see 3 small bolts & then there will be washers
under them. Just remove secondary; undo the bolts & remove washers.

THE BELT HIEGHT shims on the 94 v-max are not on the outside as turk said that
only applys to 95 and newer v-maxes and all v-max4
allthough the vmax4 has the bolts and shims on the oposite side of the
secondary clutch.
On the 94 and all yamahas before the shim is between the two halves of the
secondary clutch, the clutch must be removed from the sled and dissasembled to
add the shim you need to bring the belt hieght down. You will need a good pair
of snap ring pliers and take care to put all parts and spring setting back as
they were before. Good luck... It is a 15min job.. Dave700sx

Thanks for answering Turk, but it seems like I have another secondary clutch
model than the one you describe. I removed the clutch, but no 3 bolts. Then I
opened the clutch and "viola" there they were on the main shaft. But I think I
have to add a shim instead of removing one. If I remove a shim then the
clutch-halves will come closer and the problem will be worse.

eehhhmm.... (stupid look on my face).... When I took apart the clutch and
removed the spring I didn't notice how the spring was installed. There are 4
holes in one end, marked 1,2,3,4, and 3 holes in the other end, A,B,C.

Does anyone know in which holes I should put the spring ?

The markings on the clutch are: Toshima-1 88R01 and 88R02

Help ?
