Hi

The problem that I am having is that as my clutch engages the sled
will bog down under load. If I lift the track and get my RPMs up to
around 5000 and drop the track down and keep my RPMs above 3200 all is
good. As soon as I let the RPMs drop under 3000 it bogs down again. I
had the motor rebuilt and I have had the problem ever since. Can
anyone out there help me with this problem?

Thanks Notjustanumber

It could be a clutch problem, or a too rich fuel condition amongst a
number of possible conditions that could cause those symptoms. If the
clutches have never been rebuilt then they are probably past due. If the
bogging gets better the colder the temperature then you are running too
rich of a jetting set up. Places to start anyway.

Sounds like it's the clutches. That motor likes to be wound up to make power.
My old memory says new the 500's didn't even start to engage until 4000 rpm.
That was on my buddies 500 of the same year comparing it to my '99 700 . A
lot more of a peaky motor with a high initial engagement.

Did you align the clutches and set the distance between them properly
when you put the engine back in?
It sounds like you are "starting out in high gear" which is usually due
to having the clutches spaced improperly... but if they are way out of
alignment they will act goofy, too.

Ditto the other two posters - sounds like clutch engagement/alignment
problems.

I have a 99 Polaris sks 700 and it bogs out bad when you initially go to start riding when it's warmed up. And when it's warmed up it seems OK and it does seem like its something with they clutch engaging to soon.
