A guy I work with has burned his down three times. After 1100 miles it melted
the clutch side piston cought the pipe on fire and melted part of the hood.
They put in a new pipe, piston, and hood. The next weekend it burned the
piston again. They insatalled a new piston, he took it back up north and
burned it down again before he even left the hotel parking lot. So I have to
agree that there is a problem.

I have a 99 MXZ 600 with over 1700 miles on it and haven't had any
mechanical problems at all!! The sled handles as good as anything I've
ridden. Which includes a 99 XC 700, 99 SRX 700 & 99 ZR 600. The ride
could stand to be a little better but that isn't why I bought the sled.
The infamous MXZ inside ski lift is all but gone and when it does come
up it is most likely because I'm relaxing too much. I've raced and beat
ZR 600's, ZRT 600's XC 700's,a MXZ 670 (97)a Formula Z 670 and a 97 SX
700. Couldn't come close to the SRX 700 though, maybe next year with a
little massaging. (Bill are you listening)

Unfortunatly it sounds like you got a bad apple, because I feel the
majority of these sleds are as reliable as anything available today.

Well mine went the first 3300 miles without a problem. Then the seals on the
water pump went bad and I got new pistons, rings, cylinders and a crank. Oh
well, I still like the sled. I have put too many miles on Ski-Doos to jump
ship now. This is the first major problem I have had with any Doo.

maybe you should let the motor break in before you see how fast it will go
90% of engine failures are do to inproper break in

Have the dealer check for a bad crank seal or a crankcase leak elsewhere.
It sounds to me like the only problem is the dealer who worked on it didn't
bother to find
out what caused the failure.

Yeah I'm listening. Bring it on son, your close enough to find me. We have to
get you to Canada with us some next year. We have alot of Ski-doo guys in our
group that you would like. You are right about the MXZ 600, Muffley loves his.
They all have their lemons.

Although I agree with your statement that you need to let the motor break-in
properly before racing, I would challenge to produce some kind of
documentation that claims that 90% of motor failure is due to improper
break-in.

Even though you have a right to state anything you wish on the internet,
don't expect to not be called to the carpet on your statements.

Over 5,000 KM on my unit. No problems whatsoever. Perhaps motivated
by brand-bashing?

My Brother in laws motor blew three time on his 99 600 MXZ. They finally
figured out the problem was the crank which was out about 2 degree. They
have given him warranty until March of 2000 as a result. He's still
pretty ticked off about the whole thing. After all you buy something new
so you don't have any problems right?
