Horsepower on a Ski-doo means nothing. My MXZ 670 is rated at 119hp, my
friends ZR 600's are rated around 105hp, yet they are faster on the top,
and can even get the holeshot once in a while. In fact, I think my 580
ZR (97hp) is faster than my doo. But I'll have to wait for the ol'
Portage Canal to freeze over to try it out.

You have a slow MXZ 670. The 97 & 98 MXZ 670 are about 115 HP and the 99 MXZ
670 HO are suppose to have 10% more power.

I would say there might be a problem with the Ski-Doo or the traction
or should I say lak of it.
The engine that is in the 670HO is a year old and was first in
the Summit X of 1998. It was reported to be around 125horses.
The difference between the two engines still exist in the
compression. The X being higher due to the altitudes that it
boondocks in. There is a noticeable difference over the regular
670 motor in all aspects. All for the better. The fuel mileage
is outstanding.

I don't know what the HP is, but according to the new Snow Week, they
have been dominating their class, so they seem to be running pretty good.

If that is the case, what praytell was the original 670's output,
since the HO does produce more....?

That, Jay ,was merely a guess. If you know the actual numbers, please
enlighten us. That's what a Ski-Doo dealer here told me .:-)

That, Jay ,was merely a guess. If you know the actual numbers, please
enlighten us. A dealer at the county fair told me the "original" 670 was
rated at around 110-112, and said the H.O. engine is about 6%
stronger.(my calculation of that, on the bigger # is118.72 hp)
Okay, so rounded off you'd get 119. Which, I believe is still above par
for any single piped 700 class twin.

I talked to a guy from Dyno-port about the 670HO
He said that they dynoed a stock 670HO and got 128 out of it. They got one more
horse with their silencer added.

First and second at the world series of ICE drags last year were just such
'98 670 MXZ's. That would tell me that they rock ZR 600's pretty well.
Janelle was nowhere to be found......;p

Enough! it is currently Dominating it's class. I have seen them run
for the first time this past weekend, a world of difference from the 98
MXZ 670. If I could afford a new sled this yr. I would go for one.

At the Terryville CT grass drags this past weekend, they were smoking
everything in their class and then some (including my beloved SRX!)
Now if they would have only put that kind of 700 class power in the new
chassis (I guess the rotary valver won't fit) Mark
