There are a lot of 340 sleds that are very fun. My buddy has a 92 indy
sport 340 that gets good ski lift out of the hole, and a top speed
around 60mph, his whole family loves it.
good luck,
tony

A 340 is a good size. A friend has a 2000 Polaris Indy 340. It's a really
nice, inexpensive sled. Top speed is 60mph.

I had a 90 Indy Sport. It was a great running sled. I bought a leftover
Panther 340 two-up last year to take my 4 year old son along. It tops out
around 55-58 mph, but you can cover a lot of miles and have a lot of fun at
that. The two best new entry level sleds for my money are the Cat Z 370 and
the Indy 340.

Don't forget to look at and try and Ski-Doo Formula S. Full size, handles
well, great mileage, and surprisingly quick for a 368 cc fan.

Some of my favorite machines were 340s. Yes, you can really enjoy
snowmobiling with a 340, as long as you don't mind being near the back
end of the race (and sometimes, a 340 will go where the bigger
machines can't).

1967 Yamaha 351
1972 Polaris 400 free air
1977 Polaris 340 TX free air (most fun machine I ever owned, but no
suspension. Good thing I was MUCH younger then <g>)
1980 Polaris 500 Centurion (oh what a lump that was)
1982 Polaris 340 TXL
1984 Polaris 400
1986 Polaris 400
1988 Polaris 400 (they finally got it almost right)
1991 Polaris 500 SKS (probably, the most reliable machine I ever
owned)
1993 Polaris 500 SKS EFI
1994 Polaris XLT SKS
1997 Polaris XLT RMK
2000 Polaris 500 RMK (WOW! Leaves the XLTs in the dust, and isn't
anywhere near $2000 behind the 700 RMKs)

Enjoy...

A 340 is fine it just depends on what you are planning on doing if yo want a little more of a hot rodder go with a 440 or 500, It all depends on how big you are (if you want to take it off jumps etc the older ones usually have poor suspension unless some one upgraded the suspension to a gass shoke etc..) it all pretty much depends on what you want to do with it.. good luck

I got a 340 Indy Lite for the kids to ride and it is a nice sled for trail
riding but to go out with the boys it is to small. No ride in them at all.Go to
a 500 liquid cooled sled you will be much happer in the long run. Good luck

I think you can have fun on a 340. You will have a better time with the 500
class though, and you won't outgrow it in one season. I think the 500's are
overlooked by most simply because of the numbers on the hood. I am very
impressed with the power their getting from these "small" sleds.
