OK Why then has everyone around here including Kinetic and a skidoo waranty
performance shop been putting modified Polaris 700 RMK clutches on 670's all
last season? At the grass drags a POLTAX with polaris primary and secondary
took the whole shooting match in the 'weekend warrior' class and has been
running Polaris clutches for 3 seasons on that machine. Also the Mach1 670's
held up without cushion drive, I heard the cushion drive was more to save the
clutch than the crank. John, 96 Summit's 670 & 500, 85 Phazer, previous sleds

OK OK OK MY APOLOGIES TO THE NEWSGROUP. Yes the newer 670's do need a
balancer when installing a none cushion drive TRA clutch on them. I think it
started with the S-chassis sleds. You are at risk of taking out the mag side
bearings and or crank until you do it. I was informed on my first ride of the
season by the son of the guy who has the ROTAX performance shop I normally go
to while we we climbing the big bowl above Elsie lake Idaho this weekend in
about 5' of new snow,(last week). Nice thing to think about while your riding
in a remote area. Talked to the COMET dealer who sold me the clutch and he
knew about it but I didn't tell him which year my Summit 670 was so he didn't
tell me about the blancer. I guess I get to ride the 500 Summit until the
blancer comes in or put the tra back on. Funny thing though is I called
KINETIC this morning and they didn't know anything about the balancer, so a
word of warning if you put a non cushion drive tra clutch on a 96 or newer
670 order the mag end balancer from Ski-doo or risk a bearing and /or crank
failure. John, Washington the state. 96 Summits 670 & 500, 85 Phazer piped,
