I just saw the movie "Whip It" by Drew Barrymore, which uses roller
derby as a MacGuffin.

While it took a lot of liberties with the sport of roller derby, at
least compared to how roller derby plays out in the Boston area,
nevertheless the movie was very entertaining, and the characters
themselves seemed pretty realistic. Definitely worth seeing at the
theaters. And I'm impressed that all of the actresses skated
reasonably well too.

I kept looking for Fritz during the matches, but the shots where the
referees were involved went by just too quickly for me :(
