Apparently... Silicon is the good stuff that is water resistant,
repels dirt, and prevents grit from getting into street skate
bearings. Currently using WD-40 "specialist" silicon spray. Every
few skates, the bearings on both sides of each wheel are given a
short-as-possible spray. It won't last long as grease, but the
fact that it does not attract grit into the bearings will help
prevent wear. I used it on a damp skate. Will take a skate in the
rain at some point, and see what happens. If it works in the rain,
silicon might be a good alternative to bicycle chain grease.
