I am considering buying a pair of either Rollerblade Tarmacs or Roces Verts. Does
anybody have an opinion on which is better for stunts? Which are more durable,
maneverable,..etc. Please reply via email to gi...@mail.utexas.edu
Thanks!

First things first. A tarmac is a street skate, and a Roces vert is a ramp
skate. Now, Tarmacs work good on vert, but Vert's don't wokr too good on
street. If you skate street, i'd get rid of the Roces Verts.
Now there are other skatees on the market for street. The Roces streets
are similar to Tarmacs. I prefer the Roces because I have had bad
experiences with Tarmacs (the heel stablizer rips, the grind plates suck,
the liner falls apart). The roces Streets come with Aluminum axles ABEC 1
Bearings and Hyper Dwarfs. If you had to choose between the two, I'd go
with the roces.
BTW, someone posted saying to go with Lowriders. Don't. Lowriders are cool
for vert, but they suck at street.

>Good question, I have a Roces catalog that describes all three. I shoud say that
currently have a pair of Macroblades that I bought when I first got into skating
and was doing more just rec stuff.
I have had 72mm wheels on them for most of the time I owned them (didn't like the
78mm that they came with). In the catalog the Verts are the only ones with 72mm
wheels, the other two have 67mm wheels. In other respects the skates seem similar.
I guess I was just going with what seemed familiar. But, now that you point it out,
if I am wanting to get more into stunt skating, maybe one of the other two might
be better. What's your opinion on the other two. At this point I'm open to any
of the three. Also, how do you think they compare to rollerblades?
thanks,

If your going aggressive you want smaller wheels. So Vert is for Vert
but the suck for Street. I own the Roces Street and love um. The got a
big soul and small wheels say you a lot. I never tried the Lowriders
cause i was afraid of curb grinding and braking the metal chassis. So
Street Yes, Lowriders Guess, Vert Hell no.

i think tarmac are a lot better than roces vert because tarmac come
with grind plate and hyper midgets. Though the roces are probably
better for recreational skating

What the equipment that comes with a skate really doesn't have much to
do with the actual quality of the skate. I shop more for how well the skate
will hold up, not what kind of wheels/bearings/accessories they come with.
You can always customize your new skates to have what _you_ want for wheels
or bearings, or whatnot, but it's a little more of a problem when your boot
breaks, or your frame falls off your boot. Don't judge a skate by what
equipment it comes with, judge it by the skates itself. Many skate shops
will let you even get the skate you want with a different setup even... For
example, you may be able to get a shop to replace the Fat Boys on the Vert
for Midgets... and then which would be better?

I have Tarmac's and They come with a wrap-around grind plate which is good
for Rails and a Heel strap. The Vert's come with a Aluminum Frame which
can be a downer because they can only take 1 kind of plastic grind plate.
or that is what i have seen

With other mounting hard wear, the Roces can take most any grind plate.
I had some lazy legs wrap-around on mine for a while, now i have scribe
combo plates. One may have to do a little modification (make a larger
distance between the holes to accomodate the split frame )m to some
plate to get them to fit the roces lowrider and vert though.
