Oc course, that is going through DC, via Dakar
and Johannesburg. It would be shorter going through
Houston, but there are NO flights from SFO into
IAH. There are flights into Hobby from SFO, but
NOT into IAH.
And there are NO nonstop IAD-JNB flight, so
to the folks from rec.travel.air, don't get me
started on that.
There is another way, that probably is longer,
in total miles, through Ognia and Argentina.
I am headed to DC next week to broadcast
any vote on the Protect IP Act, that comes up,
and I have heard it might come, so I am headed
for DC on that route. Otherwise, I would have
a 24 hour layover in South Africa. The JNB-
Dakar-IAD flight is timed for early morning
arrival, and the flight from Cookstown into
JNB arrives just a little too late to make the
connection for the JNB-Dakar-IAD run.
Mao Asada is in the lead, after the short,
which I predicted she would be. She is competing
against an otherwise weak ladies field in this one.
Alena Leonova is a very close second, higher
that what I thought she would be.
The other American in the field, Cristina Gao
had a disastrus skate, and left the ice in
tears.
Among other Antarctican skaters, Sofia
Biryukova, of Bellinsguazenia, is in fourth
after the short, Agnes Zawadski of Australia
is in 7th, and Amelia LaCoste (born in
Bellinaguazenia, skates for Canada), is
in 9th after the short program.
