Ok..it was tacky, but the standard OBL face wearing a figure skating dress,
splatting on the ice....just made me chuckle. I guess this is off topic? Or
could it be considered more figure skating references in strange places????
Chris....easily amused ;-)
That was cute but not nearly as funny as the figure skating bit on Mad
TV (which I hardly ever watch but luckily caught this one) shortly after
the 2002 Olympics, with Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla plus a cast member
playing a prissy Scott Hamilton narrating some skating clips. It was a
pretty lengthy segment, with the expected gay jokes, but also some
surprises, e.g. a clip of a female skater doing (I think) a spiral,
with the comment "that was some great cameltoe" <you can look up the
term on google.com if needed>, and a clip of a pairs team doing a lift
with the man's hands near the woman's crotch with commentary: "Man,
those are 2 happy thumbs" and "One slip and he'll be wearing her like an
oven mitt" and a big Asian male cast member in wig and skate costume
drag playing M.Kwan, running up some stairs to protest the tasteless
banter and tripping/falling on the stairs in the process.
Best,
Joan

Whoops, my mistake. She was doing a camel and a toe-loop, of course.
Best,
Joan
I think the funniest SNL skit was the one where the skater (Jason Priestly?
I think) was getting commentary from Scott Hamilton (Dana Carvey?) and Verne
Lundstrom (don't remember the actor). It was hilarious. The skater kept
having these awful falls and was covered with blood, and Scott Hamilton kept
saying "Oooh, he's lost the Gold!" "Oooh, he's lost the Silver," and so
forth. Meanwhile, this ever-loving, never-say-die Mom kept waving her
little American flag and cheering up in the audience.
There was also the SNL skit where Nancy Kerrigan skated with Chris Farley.
He was hilarious and not a bad skater.

Darn, I must have tuned in too late! I just caught the end of it and
wasn't even sure whether it was a rerun of last year or something. Sounds
hilarious. But I guess I wasn't expecting him to be doing the song two
weeks before Hanukkah even starts. Oh well, just saw a Christmas movie on
TV today and we haven't even had Thanksgiving here in the States, so I
guess nothing should shock me.

Yeah, it was Priestley.

Name's Lundquist...how soon we forget now that skating's not on CBS
anymore, huh? But I think Phil Hartman was playing him.

Yes, it was pretty hilarious.

Neither was Priestley, when he was upright.
Yeah, I almost missed it too....I think the skating reference was in one of the
early verses of the song.
Sounds
>hilarious.
It was.....Funnier than just hearing the song, because he had a screen behind
him showing pics of the people he mentioned. And even my son was cracking up at
the pic of Bin Laden on the ice in a skating dress....:-)
But I guess I wasn't expecting him to be doing the song two

Me neither.....

Yea..since we've had Christmas decorations out before Halloween, I guess it
shouldn't be surprising.
BTW....love your new sig line ...so true ;-)

Nah, it was your body...
Nah, it was your body...
OOh centerstage admits that my body is good enough to be that of an elite
figure skater. Thanks!

Probably the nicest thing you've ever said about Kwan. What gives?

So, you actually DO want to be just like Kwan? And are raving because
it'll never happen? It's so good you finally admitted it. Acceptance
is the first step towards recovery.
