Todd Elderage, the figure skater. Is he gay?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the figure skater, Todd Elderedge
is gay? I know he luves alone in a three bedroom condo, and isn't
dating anyone. But that could easily be a coverup to his sexuality.

So I was wondering if anyone knew for sure if Todd is gay?

Thanks

All I know is that I don't believe I have ever seen him skate with a chair.

Does it affect his skating if he is gay or not? I don't think so.
What difference does it make really? His (and every person in this
world) private life is his own.

Todd would be the best source of info on that.

But the issue is irrelevant to his skating.

There Richard goes again - ASSuming. Of course, he's only made an ass

You keep asking this question every so often and can't even spell

ENOUGH ALREADY!

I was thinking there should be a rule that people who inquired into
someone's sex life should first have to post a complete list of their
own sexual encounters -- but I'd hate to think of what kind of people
that would attract and I really don't want to know about their sex lives
in the first place.

Maybe we should have a rule that any question about someone's sex life
is answered with an explanation of the difference between artistry and
presentation. If they persist, we explain how to identify jumps. If
they continue, we explain the scoring system. That'll learn 'em.

I think the fact that he luves alone in a three bedroom condo is definite
proof that he must be gay. I've never known anyone luving alone in a 3BR
that wasn't.

Nonsense. Why would a gay man luve alone? Everyone knows that all male
skaters are gay; Elderage (the adult champion in the over-65 division) could
easily fill up those two extra bedrooms.

Elderage, Elderedge - could the original poster be Chuckie?

Gee, can't you people come up with better stereotypes????

What importance is it whether a skater is gay or straight. "Don't ask, don't
tell!!!"

And for someone to say that ALL male figure skaters are gay....I HOPE that was
said in a sarcastic way. The skating world is probably like the rest of the
world, a certain % of the population is gay. Hey that's life folks!!!

ENJOY the final days of this figure skating season.

By the way, anyone have a 3 bedroom apartment available?????

Okay first off, whoever busted out micheal jackson as poster child for not
being gay"BAD CHOICE". Micheal is a pyscho nut who needs to be carted off to
Charter by the sea in a "I love me" jacket.
As for Todd being gay.........maybe the man just likes his love life to remain
private, just because he does talk about having a girlfriend doesn't mean he
doesn't have or have had one. IMHO I dont think he is gay or at least he
doesnt seem gay.

Well, now you have. Except that I have a house and I share it with
three cats, so it's not _exactly_ the same thing. But close enough.

A friend also lived alone in a three-bedroom house with cats, but then
he got married and moved. I think they have four bedrooms now.

Another friend was living alone in a house that originally had four
bedrooms, but they combined two small ones, but now his fiancee has
moved in. And two cats.

Another friend lives alone, but I think it's a four-bedroom house and
I'm not positive that his girlfriend hasn't moved in. He likes cats but
I don't think he has any. Yet.

Oh my gosh!!! COUNTLESS psychological deductions about your sexuality
can be made from this data, of course. <j> The fact that the number of

3 chairs, 1 bedroom, 1 luveseat . . . hmmmm. . . that could mean something.
Then again, it could mean nothing. Then again, it could mean that your IQ is a
factor of some incredibly complex mathematical formula involving the # of
bedrooms and chairs you have, multiplied by your row and seat # for COI and
SOI, and divided by the number of skating tapes you own..

Then again, it could mean nothing.

But in any case, I think you should bring it up whenever you feel the need to
discuss it.

LuEllen, 3 bedrooms, 8 chairs, a luveseat, 2 cats and a husband, and no clue
what her IQ is, or what any of this means.

Really? Depending on which set of test results I want to believe, my IQ is
either 147, 160, or 120. There were three different test runs -- one in junior
high school, one on my entrance exams into the service (General Classification
Test score), and another one several years from the Navy medical boards.
However, regardless of what the scores said on any given day, I haven't noticed
any significant change in my ability to think throughout my entire life.

The moral of this (excessively lengthy) story is that IQ test scores don't
necessarily mean anything.

Like every other measurement, there is a margin of error involved.

LOL. well since you know every single person who has ever lived alone in a
3 BR home then you obviously know the truth. I've known several people who
have lived all alone in big homes who aren't gay. Skaters, especially well
known eligible skaters, rarely have the time to have a serious relationship
with anyone, hetero or homo, so why is it soo unusual for anybody to live
alone in a nice home if they have the money for it? And why does that
autimatically make them gay?

Yes and that it would upset there straight laced principles about how and what
skating is suppose to be...good,clean and superior to any other sport. I do
believe that Todd's gayness would really bother most of these "regulars" on the
board and that's why they pretend to hide behind their stupid chair jokes or

No, many women AND men on this board try to avoid these issues because they do
not affect us in any way DIRECTLY and it is NONE of our business because none
of us are close to Todd in any way. Not close enough to know his sexual
preferences, anyway. What your 130 IQ failed to let you figure out is that
maybe, just maybe, no one has the right ot talk about or assume that Todd is
gay from stupid, irrelevent assumptions. Unless I've been wrong for most of my
life, what happens in YOUR life is YOUR business, especially personal stuff
like who you have sex with. He's a very busy man, and if everyone who has busy
lives and is single is gay, then that means homosexuals are actually a MAJORITY
of the population. So it's not that we try to avoid it, it's that we don't
care about the topic ourselves and it wouldn't matter to us if Todd was gay or
not.

Sometimes I can't resist not putting in a ;) with my thinly veiled
sarcasm. I just thought that the original troll was unusually loopy in
mentioning that Todd lives in a 3BR condo. Beats the hell out of me why
"Pride" felt compelled to post how many bedrooms are in Todd's condo, or
why it makes him more likely to be gay. Gay music or choreography, gay
mannerisms, gay friends, gay haircuts, good taste in clothes or furniture,
spirited defenses of Oscar Wilde or George Michael, and now 3BR condos! I
thought it was bizarre that Pride even knew and remembered this as yet
another way to raise suspicions of gay sexual orientation. Is he in the
real estate biz or something?

that's a good sign people's tolerance is pretty low.

It isn't that at all RJ, at least not from my POV. I'm just trying to keep
something private that Todd (or any other person) hasn't publicized. If Todd came
out tomorrow and said "gee everyone, I'm gay." Fine, good. I don't care. Then it's
public and then the public can talk about it if they absolutely must. I certainly
have no problem with gay skaters or dancers or anyother gay person (okay I'm
really starting to hate this word), but I do respect people's privacy - especially
people in the public eye - and so far Todd has NOT said one way or another so I'm
not gonna question it. It's none of our business. He obviously thinks it's none of
our business or else he'd have said something about it like Rudy did so we should
respect that. That's all.

Uh, "Marty," ever since you wrote me a hate letter to my Orser newsletter
several years ago and mailed it from another name ("Maureen Davis") and
another city in Maryland (Lynch, I believe), I've been meaning to tell
you: that wasn't Bambi's mother who said "If you can't say anything nice,

proceeded to tell me one of my writers "dripped venom off the page" every
time she wrote for my newsletter.)

Besides, why take the advice of Bambi's mother? Didn't she get shot?

This is a really simple question to answer, but you need to know if the
original poster is male or female.

If the original poster is male, he is just jealous that so many women
would be interested in Todd Eldredge when he probably is a jerk who
couldn't get a woman if he paid her. So he tries to turn women off Todd
by telling everyone (or at leat planting the idea in a woman's mind)
that Todd Eldrege is gay.

If the original poster is female, she may want to know if he's
homosexual or heterosexual to find out if she could have a chance with
Todd That, of course, is a ridiculous idea. Why would anyone in the
public eye be interested in a fan? They would have to know that the fan
would not be interested in the person, but the celebrity and the bank
account.

Either way, this is utterly ridiculous.

Cassandra

BTW, I have a question for anyone who might think they know how to tell
whether a person is hetero-, homo-, or bisexual.

My best friend (male) lives alone, in a one bedroom apartment, with a
cat. Is he gay?

My father-in-law, separated, lives in a three bedroom house with another
man (they sleep in separate bedrooms). He has a dog (part German
shepard, part Basset hound). Is he gay?

Or are neither gay? Are both gay? If you think you know the answers,
please e-mail me. Maybe I'll let you know the answers.

It has nothing to do with sexual fantasies of mine and most others I
would assume. I am married and have no romantic/sexual interest in
Todd. However, as a fan I like to see his and other skater's privacy
respected. Being a public figure does not mean that everyone should
know everything about them.

>Also, some of you guys are supposed to be experts on Todd. So name one

Expert is a relative term. Ruth and John Eldredge are Todd experts. I
am not and most of his fans are not, really in a real sense. Unless
Todd or any other person admits to personal information publically, we
don't know. We can't assume someone is gay or not gay just because the
person chooses to keep their private life private.

Well, the info matters only in that maybe some people will shut up
about it now<g>.
Now of course the question is: how many idiots are gonna *still* gonna
try and refute it<g>?

Second point not related to Todd specifically but in general:

I imagine lots of skaters(and other famous people) don't mind as much
people knowing their sexual orientation as much as they may mind what
affect it may have in people trying to pry in their private life.

In the case of male skaters, how can it feel for a girlfriend of
theirs to be possibly showcased as a trophy for the skater's
heterosexuality because of the stupid sterotypes in skating? It may
be that Todd and other male skaters not only don't want to showcase
their girlfriends in this way but also that they want to keep their
private life away from the rink.

Being gay is nothing to be ashamed of. However, in North American
society, being gay still has a stigma attached. Stupid, but true. The
issue is whether a personal tidbit about someone should be assumed or
not assumed when we really don't know any real facts at all.

As for Todd being gay.........maybe the man just likes his love life to
remain
private, just because he does talk about having a girlfriend doesn't
mean he
doesn't have or have had one. IMHO I dont think he is gay or at least
he
doesnt seem gay.

lschris
************
Yeah, he certainly doesn't seem gay.
And we all know that every gay man has limp wrists, talks in lisps, and,
uh, figure skates. Thank God for these tell-all signs, otherwise we
wouldn't know who is sleeping with whom... and we just NEED to know that
information.

i have no idea if Todd is gay or not, and I don't care. However, I
would like to point out that whether he has had a girlfriend or not
does not indicate hetero/homosexuality. Michelle Kwan has never had a
boyfriend, and Tara doesn't currently (and do you really think she ever
had a serious boyfriend?). Skating takes a lot of time, and some
people just don't have time to date, or aren't attracted to they people
they're around 24-7 and they don't have time to meet other people.

Hmm...This adds a new twist to the equation. What relationship do the cats
have to their owners being gay or not?

And even more worrying, I live alone in a 3 bedroom house with one cat and one
... *dramatic pause* DOG (oh no!)...I own several chairs AND I'm unattached!

Well, if you can afford to live in four bedrooms by yourself, that's great!
The more the better. One bedroom for the bed, one for the office,
one for home theater and one for your mom when she visits you.
Why do you have to be gay?

I'm sure that Todd knows.

The sexual orientation of individual skaters is their own private
business. Until a skater chooses to make her/his orientation a matter of
public record, the rest of us try to behave like well-mannered people and
not speculate about it.

really?! where do you get this information from?

ah, you must be an expert on the regulars here!

i don't think anyone's sexual orientation is the business of anyone
else if that person hasn't chosen to go public with said orientation.

that's just for starters.

for a long time, in the Canadian skating community, Brian Pokar's
sexuality was open knowledge, and there was a LOT of discussion
when he became a Playgirl centrefold [hmmm.... i think i still have
that issue somewhere].

that he was gay didn't make him any less attractive, sexy or elegant
a skater. it didn't make him any less of a terrific person. every
time i met him he made me weak at the knees - he was just that kind
of guy!

a male skater's sexuality doesn't make skating less "clean" than any
other sport. and skating certainly isn't superior to any other sport -
i don't know where you'd get the idea that we think so. certainly, we
think this sport is suitable for children, and people - rightly - get
squicked at mixing children and sex; so i can see where we *might*
prefer to keep the two separate.

when Brian Pokar died of AIDS i got calls from friends who knew that
i had met him during my work in skating and they were *shocked*.
many of them wanted to know if i knew he was gay all along, because
they also knew i had a raging crush on the man.

IT DIDN'T MATTER!!!!!

it didn't change how i felt about him, just as Rob McCall's sexuality
didn't affect my admiration for him, just as Toller Cranston's
sexuality doesn't affect my admiration for him!

*SHEESH*

who CARES if Todd is gay??? the only person who should care
is Todd!!!! if he's gay or straight, i hope he has a happy life and
continues to skate for many more years and that's the only thing
that should matter!

Peg answers:
Warbirds is a *really* recent addition to the menagerie. He hasn't a clue
*who* the old-timers are, or who is a genuine "regular" and who is merely a
johnny-come-lately like himself. He probably fancies himself a "regular." But
I wouldn't consider him well-versed in behavior on this NG.
