Who killed rec.sport.skating.ice.figure?

Does anybody know? The police are currently questioning various
suspects, including:

the cook
the groundskeeper
the upstairs girl
the butler
the teenage drama queen
the chauffeur
Buffy the newsgroup slayer
the plumber
Tonya Harding
the attack dog
Marie-Reine Le Gougne

If anyone has any more information, please come forward. All I can
say is that I hope rec.sport.skating.ice.figure went peacefully and
didn't have to suffer or anything. That would be too much to take.

What really killed it off was when AOL stopped carrying newsgroups. Most of
the old-timers apparently didn't want to pay extra to another newsgroup
provider. (And before someone says "What about Google Groups?", many people
seem to think that Google Groups has such a poorly-designed interface that
it isn't worth considering.)
