So we've got Russia & Belarus, no US, Canada, or Japan. I'm surprised at that,
usually the luck of the draw puts one of those in there.

Should be interesting,

Looks like Slute has her first World Championship locked up. Could you
come up with a more Kwan/Cohen-unfriendly judging panel if you tried?
This looks like what you'd get if you let the Russian federation hand
pick the panel, other than the fact that they decided to give Tatiana
Danilenko some time to recover from her session of Slutskaya-worship at
the Olympics and GP final. I predict an 8-1 decision for Slutskaya, with
Sweden the lone dissenter (or perhaps 7-2, with the Italian judge going
against the Russian bloc because of FP&M's placement at the Olys). Of
course, if Slute falls once or twice and Cohen lands a quad and Michelle
hits a 3-3 combo, it might only be 5-4 for Slute. Should be
interesting......

Isn't the substitute judge from Belgium (that *is* what BEL stands for, right?)
So, maybe. . . Belgium, France and Sweden. That means *only* a 6-3 victory
for Irina.=:-o

Why do I think that nobody we're even expecting is going to sneak in and win it
all?

LuEllen, hoping everyone skates well, no matter what the judges do

But more likely, Cohen is going to skate quite well, but not
even try a quad. Slutskaya will skate for her home court and
it will be beautiful. MKwan doesn't have a 3-3 combo to
land, and she will probably whiz jump every one of them
because the ice will be too hard and cold for her. I'm guessing
Irina first by a mile. Sasha 2nd where she belongs right now.
And a tossup for 3rd because they simply don't give a hoot
about Mickey Mouse in their world. And Michelle Kwan
will turn pro. The judges really don't have to work this one.

Psst, John S.... Michelle Kwan has been the only skater to have regularly
landed her 3/3 in major competitions. She just landed a 3/3 toe in the Worlds
Qualifier - something the other top ladies did not do.

Psst, Janice ... Michelle chokes whenever the pressure is too great. That's
why she'll never have Olympic gold (the only medal that matters).

I'm sure this little fact hardly matters to someone who (from what others
have told me) actually thought Michelle was going to have to skate for the
Olympic gold on *hockey* ice, and that it would be too hard and chippy and
she wouldn't be able to handle it. Duh...for how long has it been that
figure skating and hockey have been held in separate arenas...not to
mention that even though they hold short-track in the skating arena, the
technicians adjust the ice temp appropriately for each sport...

In other words, johns hardly need concern himself with facts, when he has
such good theories to expound upon based on falsehoods.

: Psst, Janice ... Michelle chokes whenever the pressure is too great.

If that were true, she wouldn't be in pole position
to have won more World Championships than any ladies'
skater in 42 years.

: That's why she'll never have Olympic gold (the only medal that

Winning lots of World means MUCH more
than winning Olys...the opinions of those
who think only Olys matter, don't matter...
they are not the skating-aware.
