>Jesus, what is wrong with you people? I said one word in my post, "chink,"
>and you people go psycho. Just because I happen to refer to people of chinese
>descent as chinks, doesn't make it a bad word. Society gave it a derogaroty
>meaning, not me.
YOU didn't make it a "bad word". It IS a "bad word" by common usage.
We are having a fit because you used a derogatory racial epithet and now
are trying to say that you meant nothing unkind by it, and seem to be
insisting that we should look to you for the correct definition of words.
How very Alice-In-Wonderland.
If you recognize that the word has a derogatory meaning, then why use it
unless you mean it to be derogatory? Since we don't "know you", we start
out assuming that you meant what you said, and that you chose the words
you chose in full knowledge of their meaning. (what a concept: taking
people at their word!)
>all over them. I guess the only way I can say that word is if I'm chinese
>myself, huh?
Yes.
If people get upset over a word, it's not my fault that they're
>so insecure not to ignore it and get on with their lives. Yes, I do use words
>like spic, chink, nigger, and kike to refer to people in a derogatory manner.
> It's not the end of the world and everyone does it.
No. Everybody does not. I don't. People I associate with do not. It's
crass and cruel and bad manners. It bespeaks a small and prejudiced
mind, limited intellectual resources, an unawareness of proper behavior,
and an insensitivity to others' feelings. If everybody *you* know uses
these words "casually", then perhaps you should seek another group of
associates.
>Don't tell me I offended
>everyone here because I'm willing to bet that 95% of you aren't chinese.
It makes no difference. One of the nice things about people is that they
can be empathetic. They can be offended on behalf of other people.
Additionally, they can be offended when people overstep the bounds of
civilized behavior. which you did.

"chink" could go screw themselves! why dont you call african americans
the "n" word while your at it-racist SOB... if ANYONE would like to
discuss this further just drop me a line... or give me a call over the
phone and i'll be happy to give you a brief history of asians in this
country...
signed-mad as hell
Tell you what, post your full ethnic background(both parents) and let everybody
call you every racist epithet in the book. Then while you howl in protest
remember that it is society, of which you are an individual member, which is to
blame.

Well Said, Janet!!!
Your whole message, not just the portion I chose to quote. I quoted this
portion to reinforce a statement I made a couple days ago. Just as we worry
about the associations our children choose, we adults should be careful of
our associations. Seek out positive, supportive associations!

Ok, I don't want to nit pick but I will. If you are going to say " the
'N-word' ", you might as well say " the C-Word". I'm Chinese, and I have taken
offense to that guy saying it. BTW, are you Chinese??

That word is used here a lot for Irish people and although I'm not Irish, I
hate the use of that word too. It denotes ignorance on the part of the user.
