Hmmmm...in exhibitions, skaters are usually chacked because they are doing a
zamboni act all through the skate. I wonder what happened in Tokyo...

ilya did a zamboni in his mortal combat and they didn't chack him... but
then he is the gold medalist.

I don't know but at the beginning, when they showed each skater (in what I
thought were weird poses anyway), she looked like she was definitely not
happy to be there. Maybe she claimed an injury or illness and didn't
skate?

Hmmm... Uh...she almost always looks like she is not happy to be wherever she
is. (Just an observation.) It's difficult to tell...

Maybe someone will come up with the real scoop eventually? To tell the truth,
I rather like her...when she stays vertical.

I agree, she never seems to look happy but this went beyond that...hmmm,
I'll have to pull out the tape and look again, but I remember not being
surprised that either she didn't skate (or she got chacked).

I am sorry that she didn't medal after all these years but her skating is
so inconsistent (although it was nice to have a mature woman out there
skating).
However, I remember criticism of her in previous years for not training
enough and for seeming like she really didn't care if she won or not.
It's sad that this year she appeared to have started pulling it together,
just in time to retire. And given Lu Chen's problems, maybe Maria thought
she could capture the bronze.
