I know the juvinile results, because I competed in juvinile.

1- Jennifer Anne Kirk (Me) Skating Club of Boston
2- Kara S. Skating Club of Springfeild
3- Evelyn Kong Charter Oaks-( fell on her double axle)
4- Megan Bailey Winchester
5- Colete Irving Winchester
6- Katie Orsher Charter Oaks
7- Kate Liberman (fell on a doublelutz in her program, and broke her wrist)
8 - Nicole S. Charter Oaks
9- Lindsey Gutner Charter Oaks
10- Pamala Coates
11- Erica Christensen Colonial
12-Cindy Purdy Winchester
13- Marissa Espisito Yarmouth
14- Stefanie Tuck
15- Emily Bumby Yarmouth
16- Alisson Rushford

The judges really wanted kids who skated fast, and did a clean program,
they didn't go for little "cutsey" stuff, unlike other compitions.

thank you for getting back to me about juv. competition.
Congratulations on your win!! I've seen you skate at Boston (I
do too, sometimes on Sunday mornings). I was wondering how
Amanda Fuller made out since we skate together at Michael
Boticelli's fundamentals on Sat. nights. You must be really
excited about going to Easterns. I've only been skating about
six months (3 years if you count the badge program at Boston)
and belong to Wilmington. Are you going to Bay State games?
I'm going to Southern New England then Bay State games-- my
first competitions with my program. Good Luck and thanks
again.

I'm new to this figure skating jargon. However, I am dating one of those
who were at this competition. What is a Waxel?

waxel, n. an axel that goes "off the heel" on the takeoff, usually
finishing proceeding into a spectacular slow horizontal rotation
leaving the skater on his or her back on the ice -- basically happens
when skater gets upper body outside the curve on the takeoff, making
it exceedingly difficult to push off the toe as you push up into the
air -- it feels and often looks pretty scary -- bad enough in practice
but you really hate to see it in a performance

: I've posted the Senior Ladies results, but was not present...there were
: six skaters,Kathaleen Kelly Cutone(tall,blonde,known for spreadeagles),
: Patricia Mansfield(made ABC last year,should be familiar sight),Alicia
: Cavanaugh(just up from Novice to grab silver!),Melanie Lambert,Jennifer
: Blount(black hair,pale skin,at least last year she skated in wine-colored
: dresses),and one I forget...none ring a bell?

Rummaging in my files, here's the full list in order of their standing
after the short(in final standings,Mansfield dropped behind Cavanaugh
and Ward and Blount swapped places).

1 Patricia Mansfield, Colonial FSC
2 Kathaleen Cutone, The SC of Boston
3 Alicia Cavanaugh, Charter Oak FSC
4 Melanie Lambert, Colonial FSC
5 Jennifer Blount, The SC of Boston
6 Kristen Ward, Colonial FSC

...Ward is the one I forgot, and I guess if she's the one "Admiral" Todd
is dating,he'll let me have it...he wouldn't be dating the married KKC.
I have Mansfield,Cutone,and Blount on video from 1995 Easterns(Lambert
too,but only in pairs--though I wish I'd had the camera going when she
pulled out of Senior Ladies there in the middle of her long)...not sure
if there were any Waxels(or flutzes) to spot.

A Waxel,according to Sandra's Competitive Figure Skating FAQ,is

a failed axel attempt, when the skater slips off the forward
takeoff edge.

So if this was your girlfriend(or not),she was being given a rather
backhanded compliment...the Axel would have been a big one if she'd
done it properly,but it wasn't.

Anyhow,good luck...

Alicia Cavanaugh was the one with the major waxel at the end of her
program. She hurt both her knee and her hip (which was *bleeding*) on
that one. I was really impressed, though, when someone came up to her and
asked if she hit a rut or something ,and she said no, she thought she was
just trying too hard and caught an edge. She's also the only skater I've
seen to do a sitspin into a Biellmann!
