Normally, the US doesn't make decisions on its people until after
nationals...not sure of other countries though.

The U.S. usually sends their B list skaters to 4C's don't they?

Yup...4th - 10th or so (not all of them of course)...depending on the
age and if they were competing in the Jr. GP. and if its a good skater
who just bombed at nationals. Depends on any number of things, including
it seems is how they felt when they got up that morning or if Jupiter is
in line with Mars.....

So, theoretically, if I place in the top 3 at US Nats, I wouldn't be
allowed to go to 4C's?

From what I remember, the top skaters have always been offered a spot, it's
just that none of them ever accepted. (Although I think Angela Nikodinov
went both years she placed 3rd.)

And that is strange, because Canada's top skaters will go at the drop of a
hat. I think for the US skaters to not go is a form of snobbery - there
have been some good skates there. That's where I fell in love with Yukina
Ota.

Do you think Kwanita is not ready to deal with CoP?

Both she and Cohen would bring some much needed "star quality" to Four
Continents.

I am worried about Kwan.

I think either she is trying to preserve her body until 2006, or else she
just does not want to be bothered with anything that is not a major
competion (e.g. Nationals, Worlds, etc.) or a USFSA cheesefest.

Yet another reason to issue Worlds invites based
on performance at Euros and 4Cs!!!

After what I saw of her at Marshall's this afternoon, I don't think she is
ready for CoP.

I'm not worried about her as a person. I don't think there's anything wrong
with her, physically or mentally. It's just that I don't see any
improvements between the "Bolero" of the early fall cheesefest and the
"Bolero" at Marshall's. Michelle has had several weeks to get this program
ready, but it's still not there yet. But she's miles ahead of Sasha at this
point, so I expect she'll win Nationals easily.

I disagree - Michelle's combo spins are all brand new. They incorporate the
changes of edge and changes of position that are rewarded in CoP. She's
clearly paying attention and making adjustments accordingly.

That is what I meant, her skating. I missed Marshalls, unfortunately.
She could easily win Nats, but Worlds? Irina, Shizuka, Joannie,
Cynthia(?), Carolina, Miki? What is she gonna do?
