Seriously, didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to expect everyone
to be married by age 30 and, if they are not, to ask why they're not as if
there's something wrong with it? Whether they're male or female, skater or
not?
It's just plain rude.

I wasn't married until I was 29. I am glad I didn't rush into marriage
at 21 or whatever. Different strokes for different folks..
So, seeing Donna Summer in lipstick and eyeshadow makes you sick?
I haven't had an account with that company since 1998. If they choose to
leave up a dead Web site that I no longer have had time to update since
having taken my current job, that is not my fault. I don't even have
access to it anymore to update it OR take it down.
Note to Sandra Loosemor: I would appreciate it if you would remove the
link from SkateWeb, as I asked you to do way back at that time. There's no
sin in starting a Web site and not being able to keep it up, so long as
someone doesn't keep pointing to it. I would really appreciate your
stopping pointing people to a dead link, because I really don't have the
option of taking the site down. Thanks.
I may not care for kwan's skating presentation, but her sexual orientation is
nobody's business and I would never mention it. Cynthia Marie, on the other
hand is completely obsessed with skaters' sexual preferences--probably because
she is unsure of her own.

I was a teenager at a time when half the male rock stars on MTV
were wearing makeup-- Prince, David Bowie, Boy George, the guys
from Duran Duran, Robert Smith from the Cure, the "hair band"
groups like Motley Crue, Ratt, and Poison, all the one-hit-wonder
new wave artists, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of people. I
think even Sting might have worn a little eyeliner back then. It
was never a big deal. I don't remember my friends being shocked
or disgusted because of it. Maybe we all would have felt
differently if our boyfriends started wearing makeup, but a
30-year-old rock star could get away with it, especially if he
was British.
Because I grew up with all of this, my reaction to a male skater
wearing makeup is "So what?"

I've met Galindo backstage at COI. He does wash it all off as soon as
he can. But you obviously have not been backstage at COI or any other
pro show. Skaters have to make their way through a phalanx of
well-wishers, photographers, reporters, sponsors, management, crew,
other skaters, and the family dog. It takes a while to get to the
dressing rooms, and quite obviously, that photo of Galindo was taken
immediately at the conclusion of the show, before he had a chance to change.

Actually, by that time, David Bowie WASN'T wearing makeup anymore...he had
entered that Thin White Duke period of his career. Now, the early
'70s...back then he was so glammed up he didn't look like the same person.
I remember Freddie Mercury from Queen used to paint his nails black. And I
also remember the hoopla when, of all people, Daryl Hall and John Oates
appeared on the cover of one of their early albums (before they were
terribly famous) wearing makeup on the dictates of some ill-advised art
director...and of course everyone thought "Ooh, they're lovers!" (sheesh)

Same here. I was a teenager in the early-to-mid 90's, when obviously
hair bands had gone out of style, but I am a singer (light opera
mainly) and the truth is, nearly *all* performers wear makeup. I
hardly ever wear makeup offstage. But in every production I've ever
done, the entire cast paints up, regardless of sex. The only
exception is a gig or a concert, when the audience is primarily there
for the music, not the visual. Performers (skaters included) who
don't wear makeup look like ghosts under bright lights.

IIRC, he still wore a little eyeliner in the 1980s. And I'm sure
he used light-colored makeup to attain some of that unnaturally
pale look. I'll have to dig out some old tapes (yes, I do have
tapes that don't have any skating on them).

Heh heh. You *are* new here. She has a Black Belt in Ridicule.

This is Usenet. Lots of folks duke it out with a lot of other folks.

Actually, she's more efficient than prodigious. Kind of like a cheetah
attacking a wildebeast.

14) How can I report cases of Usenet abuse from people posting through
Google Groups?
Send a message to groups...@google.com describing the offense. Please
note, in order to investigate reports of abuse you must include the full
header of the offending post.
Google does not regularly monitor or censor messages posted to Usenet
through Google Groups, but we do attempt to prevent wide-scale spamming and
other forms of Usenet abuse. While we appreciate how annoying off-topic
posts can be, we are not able to pursue most of the complaints we receive
about them. Unless the case involves numerous repeat offenses or posting of
someone's personal information (credit card or social security numbers), we
have found it much more effective for the members of the group to express
their displeasure directly to the spammer. You can contact the individual
directly through his or her email address or by replying to the post within
the group.
For more information, please see our Terms of Service.

A couple of her words may qualify as obscene, but I'm sure a report based on
that post would have the folks at Google ROFL. Besides, I think Cynthia was
more inaccurate than obscene - Kaiju is neither a fag nor a bitch, although
she has been known to get a bit snippy on occasion. I'm sure she is more
amused than offended by Cynthia. Some posters are worth reporting for abuse,
and some are not. The choice is yours.

Heaven knows I'm buckled over laughing. Maybe I should report lil'
Cynthia Marie for causing physical injuries? My poor back...

Heheh... You got that right. I haven't had this much fun in months.
Folks around here have been so honorable, proper and pristine, I haven't
had adequate outlets for my assigned rssif slicing and dicing duties.

Please don't discourage lil Cynthia Marie from posting. She/He/It
provides comedic relief around these here parts.
