Richard Crawshaw.
The New Zealand Rugby Football Union is deeply saddened by the death of
Board member Richard Crawshaw, who passed away in Waikato Hospital last
evening.
Richard who was also the manager of the New Zealand Sevens team, suffered a
heart attack. He had been in hospital since February receving treatment for
cancer.
Richard was 50 years old.
NZRFU Chairman Rob Fisher, speaking from Cape Town this morning said:
"Richard will be well remembered for his contribution to New Zealand rugby
at so many levels."
"He was actively involved in his home region in Gisborne, and has served the
NZRFU Council and Board for more tham five years.
He will be sadly missed by everyone associated with New Zealand rugby, and
especially missed by many players".
"Our love and support goes out to his wife Sam, and daughter Aimee."
In addition to his involvment with rugby, Richard was also President of the
New Zealand Crippled Children's Society for the last six years, and a
trustee of Sport Eastland in Gisborne.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been confirmed.
