B.C.
Harry Towes (Abbotsford), prop; Mark Cardinal (JBAA), hooker;
Wayne Peace (Cowichan), prop; Chris Whitaker (JBAA), lock; Tony
Healey (JBAA), lock; Ryan Banks (Burnaby) flanker; Rob Robson
(JBAA), flanker; Colin MacKenzie (Burnaby), No. 8; Chris Tynan
(Meralomas), scrum half; Troy McDonald (Castaway-Wanderers), fly
half; Barry Ebl (Kats), wing; Ron Towes (Meralomas), centre; Chal

For BC: Mark Cardinal, Wayne Peace, Whitaker and Healey(?), Robson(?),
Chris Tynan(?), Colin MacKenzie. The newspaper article did not mention
the reserves, and I am curious as to where Schmidt the Abbotsford No.8
is. IMHO, he was one of our top forwards vs Wales.

Ontario squad snipped because I know very little about most of them.

The most important aspect of this game to watch will be the performance
of the two outside centres, Chal Smythe for BC and David Lougheed for
Ontario. Both are big top quality wingers who are trying to make the
transition inside. Lougheed was IMHO shown to be very weak in his
defense vs Wales, and I think they both have quite a way to go to be
considered top level centres. All that being said, they are both on the
Canadian squad so best of luck to them. They will have to perform in
November because centre has been one of our biggest weaknesses for quite
a while. I think that the two BC halfbacks should do well, they both
are similar in their approach to the game. It is a shame that Robert
Card is currently recovering from a very mild knee sprain, he should be
fully recovered in time for the tour in November. It is believed that
he has the potential to develop into one of the top halfbacks in Rugby
union.

Thank goodness someone covered the match. I saw nothing in the paper or
the Canadian Press internet feeds. Well Done! Was this done in live
time from the site or typed into a laptop and uploaded at a later time?

B.C. wins it lost championship, 18 -6 despite not having their top
players. (See game report courtesy of Rick Robbins, Alberta Rugby
Union) ARU In fairness to Ontario they are missing several top players
who also are in Europe. I believe that the three players in bold print
played last season for CCSD.
This could be the last year for this format of provincial teams
vying for the National championship. I will be in favour of creating a
National League that will be more cost effective for developing
players. Hopefully in 10 years or so we may be able to keep our top
players at home if rugby can be developed to a greater profile.
