spitting teeth when the Bath match was cancelled last season as it was
playable, and left Bath with 8 games in 3 days at a crucial part of the
season. I honestly believe it cost us dearly. When Wasps officials have been
daft enough to say in the press how they are a club that thrives on close
together matches, it's not too shocking that people resent them somewhat,
especially after all the uncontested scrum bollocks. Perhaps they should
just get a side capable of competing without playing silly feckers all the
time?

the cancelled Sale match was scheduled back in november. After we all know
there is nothing wrong with Sales pitch, it is purely coincidental that they
will be completely redoing it in the off-season.
Lets hope there are no injuries on their frozen pitch this evening.

Plenty of running rugby and nobody hurting themselves on the dodgy patch.
Now are you going to try and tell me there is nothing tactical about the
Wasps cancellations, when their own management team say they like a busy
calendar?

Mostly I was praising you for your restraint. I expected this anti-Wasps
tirade from you a month ago.
And yes, I would say that there was nothing tactical in Wasps objection to
playing on the said mudflat, it was the strongest Wasps team possible
against a less than full strength Sale team. And as for the manner in which
journalists turn around otherwise innocent comments, .... no comment.

You are right that is a bit rough. What did they do play 3 matches on 2 days
and 2 on the other? did they keep the same team for all 8 matches and what
were the results

Two of the games where monopoly, there were 2 scrabble semis as well as
the club Guess Who final won by The Plank no less.
That left 3 rugby matches which is no problem when half the team is
coked up to the eyeballs.

The Bath game was playable and not playing it ruined our season. If anyone
had done that to Wasps we'd never have heard the end of it. It strikes me as
funny that the only side in the land who postpones games happens to be the
one constantly claiming how they profit from a busy calendar, and it's a
club renowned for 'pushing' the letter of the law (see uncontested scrums
comment). If Wasps don't want the rest of us to resent them, then I suggest
they don't run off their mouths about how it benefits them in interviews. It
wasn't a journalist turning anything around. A straight question was asked
and an incredibly poorly thought out and arrogant answer given.

Have always found Wasps to be quite a cynical bunch to be honest.
Nothing illegal (or proven), but very often just "plays the book" or the
system better than the rest.

I find it cynical just because it pushes things to its limits.
Arrogant would be thinking there is no risk to it - but wasps have seemed
(and I know its just my perception) to have not bothered to play until
certain parts in the season, have done all manner of clever little niggly
things like that re-arranged fixture and coaches even gone away to coach
wales etc. - just seems cynical.
By the way Simon Shaw is one of my favourite players etc. so I mean the way
the club conducts business rather than the players etc.

Always loved him. Remember a drunken discussion with Sean Byrne (adopted
Wasps as his English side) in 2002 about why he'd not got more caps. Went to
see the game in Marseille with Ali Day before the RWC2003 hoping he'd put in
a mammoth performance so he couldn't be left out. He was MOTM, but was left
out anyway.
After the last RWC I was one saying we needed to look for youngsters now as
he won't make the next one. Got that one wrong! Since he's trimmed down a
bit he seems to have regained a bit of pace, and his stamina is superb. If
there's a second row playing better rugby anywhere else in the world, I've
not seen it. Wasps and England should look after him - he's so important for
2011.

covering for all Premiership grounds. Since the Sale debacle, Sale have
announced that they will redo their pitch in the off season (at considerable
cost).
This saturdays Leicester-Wasps clash is being brought forward to
mid-afternoon, with Leicester saying "No team wants to risk their players
getting badly injured" . Maybe other teams are coming round to Wasps way of
thinking on player safety. That said I think it is highly debatable as to
the merits of playing 3 games in 8 days compared to playing on a
sub-standard pitch.
