Josh Kronfeld, Craig Newby, Daryl Gibson, Aaron Mauger, Scotty Hamilton
have all been outstanding players for Leicester.

Who's next? We'll have 'em.

The successful applicant will have no further international duties, a
minimal injury list, and a track record of beating the crap out of the
Springboks.

Bastards! Why didn't you offer Stephen Brett a contract?

He said he couldn't leave his adoring fans.

Fan. Adoring fan. Seat 24, section 3, Paul Kelly stand. I think it's

Not to mention the various members of the media who have spent the past two
or three seasons telling us what a wonderful player Brett is when in reality
he's done very little beyond showing 'potential'.

Casey Laulala might have been next off the production line to Leicester but
Cardiff snaffled him.

Another import (as was Spencer). They have just got less good at picking
who to pinch.

Well, although Lord Shiney has frequently pointed out that it's really
only a B team competition these days, Brett does deserve some credit
for piloting an inexperienced Canterbury team to NPC victory. And in
Lord Shiney's eyes, he deserves even more credit for directing them to
the loss of the Shield -:)

Did the Blues get Kirkpatrick from Wellington as well?

Yes, and the Hurricanes also managed to foist Michael Hobbs onto the Blues
in 2009. It's too easy...

He was fantastic at age grade level - maybe even player of the year a few
years back? But he hasn't taken the step up (to NPC let alone S14) so it
will take Aucklands reknowned ability to make a silk purse from a .....oh
damn, that's Canterbury - you're stuffed!

You can work this out by a series of comparisons. He missed out on the
Hurricanes to Cruden (highly promising) and Ripia (not very promising), and
lost his place at first five for Wellington to Fili and/or Weepu.
